The single piece steel construction is sufficiently robust for use in the shop. It has no chinsy welds that are prone to breaking or riveted handles that become loose. With a small modification, I guarantee that it will last a lifetime. To prolong the handle, I used a propane torch to heat up the handle right underneath so that I could bend the handle straight back up so that I could screw on a wooden broom handle. Rather than bending over to hold the dustpan I just put the dustpan on the ground and sweep up the dirt, dust, paper, anything I don't want to pick up by hand.
