When it comes to pull / push force, there are a variety of variables to consider. It is dependent on the length of time the valve was actuated previously. In most cases, a force of about 2 pounds is required.
No, it's not a good way to manage flow. This valve can lock in either an open or closed position, but not in a fractional open position. A ball valve, in my opinion, would be a better option.
It's designed for 2" PVC with an outside diameter of 2 3/8".
It's most likely a seal.

Because of the pictured support to lock the gate open, I chose this model gate value. The piece needed to lock the gate open is missing from the delivered product. It does, in fact, lock shut as stated. Instead of stainless steel, the gate is made of rubber. The shaft is the only part of the machine that is made of stainless steel.
If you get any glue on it, it will not close. It's cheap and it's effective.
The 2 inch pvc pipes that I attached to it were a perfect fit. The unibody design reduces the chances of leaks caused by splits in the plastic. When opening and closing the valve, it has a smooth action. I like how there's a red clip on there to keep the valve from being accidentally closed. This was exactly what I needed to replace my old, worn-out gate, and my spa is now as good as new.
This was used in a benchtop dust collection system on a small scale. It performs admirably and is simple to use, even when there is a layer of dust on it.
It would last about 20 times longer if I sprayed it with lube, but it wouldn't be as good as new. br>I have a 325 gallon tote on my tractor that I use to water my trees and garden. I'd love this thing if it could just keep working like new.
This worked perfectly; it takes up less space than ball valves and is much easier to use.
This gate valve is well-built. It came in handy when I needed to replace the original valve on a section of 2" plumbing in my hot tub. The fit and finish were superb. I like that it came with a gate stem lock and that it's attached to the valve with a tie so it doesn't fall out. This is a valve that I would repurchase.
I ordered two of these for our pond, but the first two were cracked when they arrived. I filed a claim and ordered TWO more sets, but the second set arrived cracked as well. These cracks were not caused by shipping; they should have been examined more closely before shipping. br>I am extremely dissatisfied with this purchase.
