The round handle will move the end of the gate up or down, opening or closing the pipe opening, as you twist/turn. A "ball valve" is another type I have had to replace six times because they jam up and the handles break off when you try to push them by so much pressure. Thank you for your help, I hope it helps.
I believe so. It is the same OD for Sch 40 and 80. There are only two types of wall thicknesses in this product.
The description should list slip if slip appears in the description. It is often difficult to judge products by their pictures on Amazon. The slip valve I received was part of the item I purchased.
The valve in my hand has a huge letter USA on the side. A sticker identifying the product as made in the United States appears. The letter "A". think it's fair to say that this item is made in the United States. Among the reasons I like spears manufacturing is that it is up north in Caney, KS (a PVC parts manufacturer).

As much as I'd like to tighten it, the thing is already in place, so I have no idea how well that will work. In either case, I wouldn't want to go through all of the trouble of returning the part, as it has been welded into place with PVC. The 1-point loss is also my own Should I not be able to fix it, I can provide a 1/4-inch union and gate valve. This is a 2 out of 5 star effort since it worked for one.
