If the float lever is under sufficient upward pressure. Unless the rubber seal is broken, it should turn off. It takes a lot of effort. When the valve closes for me, however, the float is usually only partially submerged. However. My line does not have a lot of pressure because it comes from a small pond with a 4 foot head. I'm guessing it's under 18 pounds of pressure. Best wishes to you.
To convert to a 3/4" NPT, you'll need a plastic tank fitting. Atlantic Pump and Equipment is a good place to get them. 804- 233- 4396

In March, I purchased it, and in May, I had it installed. Shuts off the flow, but occasionally leaks (drips), causing the reservoir to overfill. I guess I'm stuck with a $30 brass paperweight now that the return window has closed. I disassembled it, cleaned and deburred it, and reinstalled it with the same result, confirming that the water pressure was not excessively high or low. If you're looking for a 100% shut-in, off I'd suggest switching to a different brand or at the very least installing it before the return window closes (our facility was closed due to COVID, otherwise it would have been installed the same day it arrived). Aside from that, it appears to be well-made. You must supply your own float as it does not come with it.
I just finished installing it. With a 6" rod and a 4" ball, it would not turn off. I used a 12" rod and a 6" ball to see what would work best. Everything is now working properly. It will be interesting to see how long it continues.
It's a good valve, but there's no flange for mounting it in a trough.
It will not turn off after 40 days of use. If you pull up on the float, it will stop and stay off, but it will resume running as soon as the water level drops and the water starts flowing again. In the photo, the float is about 2 inches underwater. I'll experiment with a longer arm and/or a larger float and update my comments if it helps.
The product is of good quality and well-made. It's in the water trough for my cattle. To withstand the high volume of use, it must be well-built. It was well worth the money. David, a cattle rancher.
It's also reasonably priced.
Excellent product and seller.
