Questions & Answers

What is the difference between a Wilkins 720 and a Wilkins 420 pressure vacuum breaker?

All I know is that I found the model number Wilkins 720 on the vacuum assembly on the side of my house. If the situation calls for it, use 420. I used trial and error because the instructions were a little hazy. The edges are razor-sharp, so take care!

What is the procedure for removing and replacing the spring portion?

Take needle nose pliers and grab it at the top, push it down a tiny bit, then turn it to the left and pull up to put it in the opposite position.

What do the measurements 1/2", 3/4", and 1" mean?

The diameter of the pipe that exits the valve.

Is this easier than replacing the vacuum breaker? Are there any instructional videos available for this?

It would be a lot easier than having to replace the entire unit. You can always contact the manufacturer to see if the kit will solve any issues you're having. 855- 663- 9866

Although expensive for what you get, it is still less expensive than replacing the valve entirely

The pressure breaker valve on my pressure breaker began to leak. It occurred to me that there was a rebuild kit for it. After checking several sites, including my local Sprinkler World, I decided to go with Amazon because they had the best price. br>br>The kit includes a sheet of paper for valve installation, maintenance, and testing, but not for the rebuild kit. However, with the exception of the canopy, it did provide an exploded view of all the parts that make up the valve. The rebuild kit came with everything you need, including screws. Here's a rundown of what I did: br>br> br>1) Turn off the valve (if you haven't already)br>2) remove the three screws from the canopy and set asidebr>3) remove the canopybr>4) unscrew the brass bonnet (should only require your fingers, but if it is stubborn, channel locks will help)br>5) remove the Disc 6) Remove the washerbr>7) The O-ring Assembly (all one piece)br> The ring is positioned in a channel. I made use of an X-ray machine. Using an ACTO knife, pry the old O- 8) Remove the Spring (the O-ring)br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> I had to compress and turn it to free it because the Ring Seat prevents it from coming up)br>9) Remove the Spider Assemblybr>10) Use a cloth to wick up any water and inspect the valve for any damagebr>br>Now it's time to install the parts from the rebuild kit: br>br>1) Install the Spider Valvebr>2) Install the Spring (to get it to fully seat under the O-ring, I had to turn and compress it at the large end). ring channel)br>3) Remove the O-rings from the ring channel)br> Squeeze out all of the ring lubricant onto your fingers, then rub the O-ring with your fingers. ring all over it, using a lot of greasebr>4) Install the O-ring 5) Place the Dis in the ring's channel. br> 6) I had some extra grease, so I lubricated the underside of the large plastic washer that sits on the O-ring. 7) Place the plastic washer on top of the O-ring (greasy side up). 8) Thread the bonnet and double-check that the disc shaft is straight. 9) Hand tighten the bonnetbr>10) Install the Canopy and the three screws Once all three are in place, tighten them all up. br>br>Turn the water back on. It's fine if some water oozes out of the breaker valve at first; just wipe it off the surrounding pipes and keep an eye on the valve. I did a 5-mile run in my case. One of the sprinkler lines was cycled for a minute to ensure the valve was not leaking. br>br>The entire procedure takes about 15 minutes. If you're lucky, it'll take you 20 minutes.

I looked up a video on how to rebuild a Zurn 720 and found it to be very helpful

A pressure vacuum breaker is a device that breaks the vacuum when there is too much pressure It appeared simple enough, and I assumed it would solve the chattering problem I was experiencing when my irregation system began to operate in the morning. I understand that you can hire someone to test your system for $100, but why would you do so? 00 or more to test it when you can easily replace it for half the price. br>br>The kit was perfect because it came with all of the parts I needed. The entire job would have taken about 10 minutes if I hadn't taken the brass bonnet to the basement to clean it up (I'm confident I could rebuild my neighbors in less time). My irrigation system is quiet, and I'm not worried about backflow into my domestic water system.

As a result, I'm content with a 10-year rebuild interval
5/5

This kit arrived fully assembled, with all of the parts appearing to be of high quality, and detailed instructions. The big spring in this kit can be a little tricky to get inserted so that it goes under a lip at the top, so follow the directions and diagram carefully. The big spring is not under the lip if the top brass part cannot be screwed down flush with the outer housing. As others have mentioned in some of the reviews, it is a little difficult to install. This is the second time I've had to replace this kit in the 20 years we've owned our home. As a result, I'm content with a 10-year rebuild interval.

It was simple to set up and the instruction manual was extremely helpful

I'd never installed or replaced anything like this before. I decided to do some research after learning that my plumber would charge $310 to fix it. I found a YouTube video that showed me how to fix it for a reasonable price and with very few tools. It took me 20 minutes to disassemble, replace missing pieces, test, and voila, the problem was solved. It was only $42 for me. Despite the fact that I would have preferred to buy just one, the pack includes two. So, I guess I'm all set for the next time.

It takes care of the leak! That's exactly what the plumber asked for! br>The outside tap was dripping and dripping and dripping and dripping and dripping and dripping and dripping and br>Youtube informed me that the internal components of this pressure relief valve needed to be replaced
5/5

br>I bought this kit, put it together ((easy)), and BOOM! Everything is back to normal now, and there are no more leaky leakys! br>I'd recommend getting this if you have a leaky pressure device that accepts this repair kit; it works!.

My Leak has been repaired
5/5

This kit is perfect for keeping the fitting in place while also replacing the inner gaskets and components. With the help of a YouTube video, it took only 15 minutes. I don't have any special plumbing skills and consider this to be a fairly simple task. The most difficult part was unwinding the spring, which was simple enough to do with a screwdriver, and rotating the spring.

Installing it was a breeze

During the Texas freeze, my sprinkler system froze. Thankfully, the only thing that was broken was the bell. This kit was used to reassemble it, and it now functions flawlessly. Installing it is a breeze.

That's exactly what I was looking for
5/5

I'd like to take a moment to give this company and this item a glowing recommendation. It arrived earlier than expected, and it was exactly what I required. Back flow is no longer a problem for me, and it was simple to fix. I didn't inquire about the cost of replacing it with an irrigation specialist or a plumber, but it was simple and took about 15 minutes. Thank you for providing the item at such a low cost; my best wishes!.
