I purchased a home that had quest plumbing that was defective (class action lawsuit). As a result, finding a leak in the basement is no longer surprising to me. I can change out light fixtures and fix toilets, but I'm not a plumber. Do you recall the Tinker toy? That's the way it works with these. Simply cut out the old, leaking pvc, splice in a new piece, connect the two with these connectors, and brag to your wife and friends.
Plumbing problems and running water are a nightmare for homeowners who live in an older house with a jumble of pipes. Pin holes are frequently found in old gray pipe with copper fittings and bands. I try to keep a few different sizes of Sharkbites on hand because shutting off the water for long periods of time is inconvenient when you have a house full of daughters and a grandchild. They snap together securely and are simple to repair.
There are a few good points in this article. However, when using copper pipe, I have one issue: the stiffener can sometimes prevent the pipe from being inserted, and I had to remove it after several attempts. I encountered the issue on several occasions while using various connections.
You're done once you've pushed HDPE, PEX, or copper tubing to the desired depth. While you're at it, get yourself a removal tool. It's unlikely that you'll need it this time, but you never know when you'll need it again. A depth gauge would be useful, but it is not required for a leak-free connection.
To put it another way, all SharkBite fittings are excellent, and they, along with PEX, save a tremendous amount of time when compared to copper pipe and soldered fittings. However, if you need to connect to existing copper plumbing, SharkBite fittings will work just as well.
Absolutely fantastic, so simple to use and assemble, with no leaks. These fittings make plumbing projects much more accessible to the general public.
Copper sweating is a thing of the past!.
Where have these been my entire life? I'll never solder copper again.
