As for the NPT threads, there are no issues. However, be aware that the hex socket is actually metric and 8mm in diameter. In either case, you might have to strip the socket like others described. Otherwise, it will be fine.

In order to plug the expansion tank fitting on the bottom of my air separator I needed to install it in my heating system. My goal was to use the same material because it was brass. (It wasn't necessary for me to do that. counter-sunk hex socket means there is no way for it to catch. The plug site is even with the bottom of the floor joist, so I wanted it to look that way.
The experience was very bad. Indented hex slots for tightening or removing the nuts, in combination with the soft brass, would cause the nuts to deform and expand out, making it impossible to remove. While I tried to use a hex key very tightly to the socket, I still cannot release it. Striping is all it does. In the meantime, all I can do is attempt to tap it in the middle and drill in the middle, hoping not to ruin my part. This is the dilemma because I am unable to Disappointed to the core.
They are of good quality. My expectations were that it would flow more smoothly into the manifold, but I believe it has to do with the way the tooling of both parts was done.
A piece of extra fitting on an air tank was plugged with these plugs. If I want a tight seal, brass is my choice. The allen head is 8 mm in diameter.
That the item description does not list this error is even more problematic I cannot however justify giving less than four stars to the product because the thread fit was so good, and the product was otherwise so well-finished.
I sealed it up with Teflon tape and it worked just.
