I use these for a variety of things around the farm, and they're great to have on hand. br>They're also great value. They're just as strong and durable as the ones I got from the feed store or the hardware store. I'm not sure what "heavy duty" means to them, but they've helped me secure the latch on the chicken coop, hold fence panels together, make temporary leashes, hang buckets of feed and water, and have so far held up well in the rain. If they become difficult to open, I simply squirt them with WD40 and they immediately free up. I wouldn't use them to carry a large animal or anything particularly heavy, but they are very useful.
When it comes to creative sessions, there is never enough. If properly cared for, chrome plated steel will last a lifetime.
It's possible that it's not the fault of the manufacturer that these things don't last around horses. Carabiner or spring snap hook designs are ideal for hanging buckets, chain guards, and cross ties in barns and stalls. Their necks break or springs break when they snap a bolt or a spring.
Snaps are good, and the springs are nice and tight. My horse hasn't been able to undo any of the snaps yet! I usually prefer the 4"snaps, but these do the job just as well and are less expensive.
These are what I use to enclose a puppy's wire exercise pen. In my opinion, the fasteners are too small to secure feed tubs, gates, or stall doors. They seem to be of good quality.
They're made of zinc! They are not, contrary to the copy, "made of premium nickel plated steel. " ZINC is what they are. Any application or animal weighing more than 25 lbs. is not recommended.
Free shipping in a flash! On Saturday, September 14th, I placed an order, and on Monday, September 16th, I received my package. Snaps are an excellent investment. I purchased this to secure the chain closures on my barn gates.
Strong and dependable.
