Polycarbonate is durable and rugged and will last for years, but heat or shock damages will damage it sooner or later. Heat or force will cause the plastic to crack or melt, but plastic with insufficient heat or force might crack. There is one caveat - this container did not nest like the others from Carlisle. The problem is that the walls of this half pan are not precisely vertical, so a 1/3 pan will not nest correctly inside with no "bowing" of the pan's walls, and The container does what it is supposed to do, has the volume it is supposed to have, and matches well with a lid, but it is not as very precisely modular as it should be with other containers of varying sizes. Because of the different sizes of containers, there is no way to stack them together, which reduces the amount of storage available, considering they have to be stored separately.
I really like the sturdy construction of this bin. It allows us to keep most of our veggies in the fridge where they can be seen rather than hidden in dark places The fridge has a transparent shelf at the bottom. Additionally, I've noticed that vegetables and herbs last longer in the fridge if the bin is covered with the lid to go with it.
This cooler storage system is cheaper than using a rack or any other storage option.
As an area for my turtles to bask, I made one from this.
It's, therefore, perfect for her. It's also easy to clean and change the water daily because it's at an ideal depth for her to swim.
