The FS-Solberg is a Solberg product with a unique design. My recently purchased Dewalt D55168 225 PSI air compressor came with a low-quality air filter, so I replaced it with a 038. They provided a low-quality plastic housing for the air filter. One of the flimsy plastic catches holding the cover and filter element in place had broken off, allowing the filter to fall out and onto the floor. This could have happened as a result of vibration, cold temperatures, shipping damage, rough handling during installation, or all of the above. The filter housing and the filter element are both devoid of any identifying markings - For comparison, see the filters in the attached photo. Someone is scrimping on their compressors by including this substandard component. br>br> I placed an order for a Solberg FS-. 038 to replace the substandard OEM part. What a stark contrast! The Solberg is made of tough metal and comes with its own filter element. "Made in USA" is embossed on the new element, as is a patent number. It is a perfect fit for the compressor. I didn't notice any noise reduction, but the recovery time (from 180 to 225 psi) was impressive. off) was cut in half from 110 to 90 seconds. This means the Solberg air filter has less restriction, so replace and upgrade your old OEM filter and filter housing right away. The unbroken and broken catches on the inferior plastic filter housing are shown in the attached photo. With only a little effort, the remaining catch could be broken. The plastic one was thrown away in the trash.

This is going on the York compressor in my Jeep for "on-the-go" use. board" of air I've got one on another Jeep that's doing the same thing. For several reasons, it's an excellent filter. The filter is replaceable, it's small, it has the exact SCFM rating that I require, and the best part is that it's built with a full metal casing and a tube air inlet. This is an excellent design for the under-engine environment, mud, dirt, and everything else that comes with off-road 4x4. I haven't been able to find a better filter to replace it. If I had the option, I would give it a rating higher than 5 stars. It's similar to a letter A.

I was extremely disappointed when I discovered that my local big box home improvement store (I'd name names, but both HD and L have the same problem) sells the end product (air compressor) but not the replaceable filter. I called the online number and found out that the $9 part would cost $43 after standard ground shipping and handling (7-day delivery). Manufacturer's lead time is ten days. Arghh! If I were talking about a specialty part, I might accept it, but this is a common part that needs to be cleaned or replaced on a regular basis. When the low-cost option is available, I found this Solberg part on Amazon that is 5 times better and only slightly more expensive than the OEM plastic filter that twisted off in my hand, leaving the threads behind. It fits snugly into the 38-inch pipe threads, has plenty of breathing room inside the threaded tube, and is muffled. Do I notice a difference in the sound level of the pump? Even if it's a small amount, it helps. The fan that keeps the motor and pump from overheating makes the most noise, and despite being enclosed, the plastic shell doesn't keep it quiet. Does the muffling restrict airflow? I haven't seen anything like that. So, if you have a Husky 33 gallon 165 psi oilless like mine, this is a perfect fit and better replacement for your OEM plastic part.

It performed admirably and was well-suited to the task at hand. Much better than the low-cost plastic compressor unit that came with it.
