The thread diameter of the screw should normally be larger than the diameter of the hole. There is an average 6 mm diamerter in the thread of truss head screws #14 and #12. These two sizes are 3mm and 5mm. Five millimeters. Your projects will be fine using either of them. I never would have imagined I would have the opportunity to write Stainless steel looks great and these things are definitely worth checking out. I have measured the item exactly as described. I was truly amazed to learn that if I had purchased these from Home Depot, I would have paid $24 for just 30 bulbs. I paid $9 for 50 of these. This is the best deal that you will find, and there is nothing wrong with it.
Usually you cannot find these in a hardware store, but I have enough of them and I like them.
