They are a quarter inch thick. So, yes, if my calculations are correct. 3mm

Is this a pair of F2 connectors?

If they were, I would expect them to be labeled as such. They might work, but I don't have a battery with F1 and F2 terminals to test it with. They're what I use to make a quick male/female mix. Unplug the wire.

Is it possible to reduce the size of this item? When I removed them from the battery terminal, the red sleeve reappears, and the metal clamp remains attached to the terminal?

They can't be shrunk because they're not made of plastic. I've had a couple of instances where the sleeve has also returned. I'll reattach it and then use needle nose pliers to grab the terminal.

I'm in the camp of people who can't seem to get these to crimp

I'm using 10 gauge stranded wire and can't seem to get these to clamp down on the wire and keep it from pulling out. I tried three different crimp tools, all of which produced the same result. I needed to use these right away, so I removed the yellow insulator, crimped them as tightly as I could, soldered the connector to the wire, and covered it with heat shrink. The connector itself was a perfect fit for the male terminals on the circuit boards I was working on.

Worked hard and finished the task at hand

Only had one pull out of the plastic so far, but it snapped back in when pressed against the table. I've had to tighten a few to get a better grip on the tab, but it could also be the tab's fault.
