Questions & Answers

Will a 12AWG wire be able to handle the 50 amps that a 10AWG wire can safely handle? A 24 amp circuit seems very conservative, doesn't it?

Neither 10 gauge nor 50 amp wire is rated for use in electrical installations. For a house circuit rated for 30 amps, this is the ideal wire size. In my opinion, it is weird to make something to fit a 10 gauge wire that is not rated for the current it can handle. The same applies to 12 gauge which is often rated at 20 amps so maybe that would be the 24 amp rating, which would be adequate for that wire.

The cable behind the car radio could be connected this way. Do you think this would be a good solution?

Certainly you can, but go the correct route and solder and shrink wrap the item

What type of crimp are these? Double or single? Would it not be better if you crimped the insulation twice ?

The crimp is only found in one place. There is just an extra lip of plastic to be used as a hand hold to separate the connectors.

What are the chances of mixing the different gauges? Are the spades different sizes or can I connect a male red with a female blue if the female spades are smaller?

Yes, you can, as long as it fits and crimp it really well, but I always recommend using the same gauge for both ends, but that's just my opinion.

Fittings of the highest quality. Both snap together smoothly, and they have nice lips that can be gripped to pull them apart. The male spade connectors sometimes bend to one side and make it difficult to slide them into the female spade connectors, but this can be corrected by pinching them. The only thing that needs to be remembered is to check before joining them. There are no weatherproof features, but they cover all metal parts so you will not have to worry about shorts getting corroded. It helps to put a bit of silicone grease into the female connectors so that they don't corrode. It is the plastic covers' job to protect the grease and keep it.

Those are not heat shrink style. When my roommate asked what kind of plastic they were, I mentioned that they were stiff. As a result, I consider this a positive development. As I have already stated, I crimp on male/female ends and use heat shrink tubing to cover the ends just in case. These worked great for my project and they are expected to last me for a very long time. As you crimp the plastic piece, it DOES NOT SLIDE OFF as some other low-quality brands do. This keeps the plastic in place and prevents it from moving when crimped. I like how it has some good curves to keep the pieces in place, no matter how fresh or newly crimped they are. As well as that, there are An amazing price for the quantity and quality of the goods.

This book would have received a 5 star rating if the cover stayed on. The rest of the time, they are very good. I had to use super glue inside all of them to keep them in place after they slipped down the wire every time I crimped.

It was easy for me to crimp the covers, but I used a crimping tool that was made just for the purpose. The wire strippers that I own do not have a crimp nose to crimp these wires so easily. These connectors work well for automotive wire jobs because there are enough covers to keep them on and the wire gauge can cover is fine.
