It is dependent on the gauge of the wire. I recommend stripping some of the smaller wire gauges and folding them in half to make more wire to crimp in the but- connective tissue
I didn't count them one by one, but the bag appears to contain 100 of them.
I had no trouble using them on wires with a gauge of 20 awg. The heat shrink tubes wouldn't seal due to the large belled ends on the clamps, which was my biggest issue with them.
The length is about an inch. Each red automotive "butt" connector is the same size.

Without hesitation, I would purchase more. br>br>***UPDATE 02/2018**
br>I originally posted this a few years ago, and I just compared the new ones I just ordered to the old ones, and WOW, nothing even comes close to the same size, gauge metal inside, or quality. These are simply the most inexpensive Chinese items available anywhere. Because the reviews all claim that the product isn't what it claims to be, I'm downgrading from a five to a one star rating.
I recently completed a project in which 600 of these connectors were required to be installed. While I was initially concerned about the product's low price, it turned out that it performed admirably. Even my top-of-the-line name-brand product, which costs five times as much, has a few flaws now and then, but none of the 600 I installed had any. Furthermore, I was working outside in temperatures ranging from 25 to 30 degrees, which causes nylon to split more easily.
They're a quarter-inch shorter and have a smaller wire gauge. Is it possible that it's something to do with Chinese and metric? It explains why they were so cheap; I'll keep them, but I'm not willing to pay more.
I've read that the quality used to be better, but these worked perfectly for installing a new head unit on my truck as they are now. They were used to connect the wire adapter and to extend the cables beneath my truck. To protect myself, I used Tesa tape and wire loom, which worked perfectly. Thanks.
These were used in my car to install speakers. They function properly, but I was surprised to see the warning label stating that these tiny items are made of a substance that can cause cancer and birth defects. It makes me uneasy, but the chances are probably slim. After handling, I made certain to thoroughly wash my hands.
For the money, this is a fantastic purchase. Not heat- shrink. It's certainly preferable to purchasing them in a box. store!.
Not like the rest of the world. They used to be matte red, but now they're shiny and made of a different plastic, but they're still functional.
