I only have one lighter, which is usually a Bic. They will definitely shrink it, but you should be concerned about it being burned because the flame is much hotter than a heat gun. Instead of doing it the way dudetomi does it, which is a pain and results in soot all over the place, try this: Place the heat shrink in the flame's cooler base, rather than the center or tip. Not so close to the lighter that the gas beneath the tube isn't ignited. Because it takes longer to shrink the tube when it's cooler, it's much easier to do so without burning any of it. As an added bonus, the flame goes around both sides of the tube, shrinking most, if not all, of it. That's useful if you can't get to the other side, but I usually finish one side before rotating the wire to finish the other. If you can't rotate the wire but can get the lighter above it, point the flame down like a pipe.br>I only use the center (brightest) part of the flame if it's a huge thick shrink tube and I really need that much heat, like maybe 1/2" tube or bigger, but for those it's much better to use a torch type lighter. On average, torch lighters are better, so give it a shot if you can. They burn clean, but they also burn hotter, so you can control the temperature by simply blasting it with heat for a split second. br>Because the temperature and time required to shrink tubing differs depending on its size, type, and brand, practice on one or two pieces with whatever lighter and tubing you're using. br>Because heat shrink is typically thin, especially no-name stuff from China, I frequently apply two or three layers. If the wire is 120V, for example, I'll usually use three. If it's just speaker wire or a battery-operated toy, one will most likely be fine.
It will, in fact.

Consider how much waste you'll generate if you only use a small portion of a large number of small pieces. As a result, the waste factor must be considered. The waste factor would be significantly reduced if the size was increased to match the width of the box. As it stands, I'll be wasting a portion of the tubing because a portion of it will be too small to use. This is also true of a lot of the tubing I buy on Ebay, which isn't nearly as good. Anyone who thinks that having all the small pieces is a good idea doesn't use it, or they'd know that it leads to a lot of waste, which drives up the cost. I gave it four stars because of how good the tubing is; I was tempted to give it three stars, but that would be too low. As a result, consider creating a new package and cutting the pieces to fit the box's dimensions. There would still be some waste, but it would be much less than it is now. I use a lot of heat shrink, and the glue lined version is by far the best, though a thick wall is also excellent. So a thumbs up for the heat shrink quality, but a thumbs down for the piece size.
I just got my adhesive shrink tubing in the mail today and used it to repair my iPad charging cable (surprise surprise). Everything worked perfectly; it shrank to the same size as the factory repair material I get from Mercedes-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz-Benz- I used to work at Benz. I'm not sure what the difference is. I actually ran out of my old work stash and decided to give it a shot. I'm very happy with it. I have a bulky 900° automotive heat gun, so I decided to try my smaller "indoor" hobby gun, which is 300°ish, and it works fine.
Many pieces are included in the kit, but when it comes to automotive wiring, the majority of the sizes are too small and will never be used, which accounts for the majority of the kit's quantities. I'd like to see them make or sell a kit with more realistic pieces for wire gauges 16 and up.
To keep everything neat and tidy, the heat shrink tubing was neatly compartmentalized and the tubing in each compartment was banded together. br>br>A note from the seller/manufacturer thanking me for my purchase was included inside the case, which is always a nice touch! This tubing has adhesive on the inside, so once it's heated and shrunk, it'll stay put! The tubing is easy to work with and shrinks nicely. The various sizes of red and black tubing appeal to me, as they are ideal for my RC hobby's wiring requirements. This is a product that I will buy again! This seller and product come highly recommended from me!.
To make ends meet, I work on boats. At work, we use high-quality heat shrink, and I've seen what it can do when it's exposed to a torch. This heat shrink is of high quality. It has a strong grip and a good seal. You know it's good stuff when the glue starts to come out of the edges. br>My only quibble is that there isn't enough variety in terms of size. Aside from that, it's fantastic.
This is fantastic! The glue is extremely strong and melts quickly to form a watertight seal that firmly secures the wires. In terms of hardness and durability, it's comparable to cured epoxy. br>I also like the vibrant colors of the plastic, which contrast with the dull red tubes I usually purchase. br>It's also convenient that they rubberband your tubes for you. Sometimes it's the small things that bring me joy. These tubes are the bright red ones shown in the pictures. I used to use the dull red ones.
The shrinkage factor (3:1) 1) makes it possible for me to use this tubing in situations other than the usual 2: Tubing with a ratio of one. Fixing a USB connector entails slipping it over the connector and then the junction where the wire enters the connector. My standard shrink tubing (purchased at a local big box hardware store) has a 2:1 ratio. The wire/connector junction will not be sealed if the ratio is one. Furthermore, the shrink tubing's glue seals and secures the tubing effectively.
The heat shrink is of higher quality (thickness) than some, and the glue aids in making a weather-resistant connection. I'm not sure if it's certified for outdoor use, but if you're going to do it, it's better than nothing. I could see this set being very useful for car/boat audio with a few large pieces for amps/capacitors/etc and a lot of small pieces for speakers and behind the headunit wiring. br>br>My only complaint is that I did not pay attention to the amount of pieces per size. br>br>My only fault was not paying attention to the amount of pieces per size. br>br>I use these to cover solder connections for a variety of applications, but I stole someone else's idea and used it in the review section to add some durability to a Lightning cable I carry around. It worked perfectly!.
