Questions & Answers

Is a power supply included in the package?

In May of 2021, a purchase was made. Although a mini usb appears to be all that is required, mine did not come with a power supply. I haven't yet put it to the test.

Is the Fiio D3's output enough to power a Sennheiser wireless Model 120?

Yes, I use mine with a Sennheiser wireless headset. It really works.

Is this game playable on a PlayStation 4?

Yes, I'm using it in my PS4 right now. The audio output is excellent. The only drawback is that it uses one of the USB ports for power. However, the expense was well worth it.

Is it possible to connect a Blu-ray player with digital out to a receiver with analog in using this method?

The audio stream in most BluRay and DVD players can be downmixed to stereo within the player. It should work fine as long as you do this; if you're using a receiver without digital inputs, I'm guessing it doesn't support surround sound, so the downmix will be perfect.

A fantastic DAC for the money
5/5

I bought this to replace a cheap DAC I had because the other one had poor performance measurements (which were audible, incidentally). I'd previously owned and enjoyed FiiO gear, so it seemed like a low-risk purchase. br>br>This small, inexpensive box performs admirably. It has a very flat frequency response and low distortion across the audio band when connected via optical input, as well as a respectable maximum analog output of 1. Prior to clipping, the voltage should be at least 25 volts. It was everything I needed for my office's system, and I'm not disappointed. It's important to note that it's only compatible with PCM stereo audio, not Dolby or other multichannel systems.

Because only PCM is supported, there is no OTA audio
3/5

If you want Dolby audio from an OTA antenna, the Prozor is a better option. br>br>Prozor Dolby DAC: br> Because I can't set PCM on my old Panny plasma, whatever format the source has is sent to this device; unfortunately, OTA broadcasts are in Dolby Digital, which this DAC won't handle. I also have an Amazon Fire connected, and this DAC works well with it. br>br>However, I wanted a solution that worked for OTA so that I wouldn't have to use my TV speakers to watch OTA digital antenna. As a result, I ordered a new DAC that claimed to support Dolby. I was a little concerned because it only had one review, but it turns out that it works with both my OTA digital antenna and my Amazon Fire on HDMI1 via the TV's optical out. The FiiO D3 has been returned, and I am now using the Prozor DAC. Prozor Dolby DAC: br>br>

I had no idea what the best computer sound solution was
5/5

I'm extremely pleased with the results. I was a high-achieving student who excelled academically. On my previous computer, I had an end soundcard (HT OMEGA Claro Halo) and it spoiled me. I had every intention of removing the soundcard from my old computer and installing it on the new one when I recently purchased a new computer. However, it was too late when I realized it was a PCI card, and the new motherboard lacked a PCI slot. The only option appeared to be to spend $250 on a similar high-end product. PCIE is the way to go if you're looking for a way to end your sound br>br>Needless to say, I'm delighted to have found this product, which is a $25 alternative to a $250 solution. The RCA output has sound quality that is comparable to that of the HT OMEGA Claro Halo. The output from the 3 is what I'm anticipating. Although I haven't tried it yet, I expect the 5mm mini jack to be of comparable quality. This is a night and day difference when compared to the new computer's internal soundcard. The noise level is significantly reduced, and the sound quality has significantly improved. br>br>However, it's worth noting that converting a digital signal to a two-dimensional signal is a complex process. (RCA and 3. ) channel analog output This product only has one function (a 5mm mini jack). If you have a decent internal soundcard with optical digital output and all you need is high-quality 2-channel audio, this is the option for you. This is the ideal solution for sending stereo sound to an amplifier and speaker system. br>br>However, if you need features like microphone input, line input, headphone amplifier, and 7, this is NOT a replacement for a good soundcard. FiiO D3 does not have 1 channel, which is standard on modern soundcards but not available on FiiO D3.

Digital to Analog Audio Converter FiiO D3 (D03K)
5/5

It comes with a power supply (110V in and USB out) as well as a long extension cord and a 6-foot optical link, which is ideal for my setup. This was the main source of my concern. My SennHeiser wireless earphones are simple to put together and have excellent sound quality. Because I have a Samsung TV, I had to change the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM, as the FiiO D/A Audio Converter requires. To avoid waking my wife, I use my SennHeiser earphones at night during my insomnia episodes; previously, I had the earphone transmitter plugged into my AT. I couldn't get sound from the TV's apps, such as Netflix, Prime, HBOGO, and so on, but now that I've plugged the earphone transmitter into the Samsung TV's optical output, I can get any output the TV produces. It's worth noting that I've turned off the television. The digital output is unaffected by this.

It's pleasant enough to listen to on a regular basis
4/5

I bought this DAC in the hopes of using it with a MiniDSP Nano 2x8 (which would necessitate four units). I wanted to try one out first, but I'm not sure I'll continue down this path. When I compared the Fiio to the analog output of my Toshiba Regza TV, I found that the TV's built-in DAC chip was slightly superior. The Fiio, on the other hand, is a little less detailed and has a little less bass extension. The left- The Fiio's right imaging is marginally superior to the Toshiba DAC. I doubt anyone would notice the difference if they were listening casually. The Fiio is an excellent value for money if you need D to A conversion and don't have that capability already. If you compare the Fiio to the DAC chip in your TV or old DVD player, it's probably on par with what you already have; however, if you're looking for an audiophile sleeper, this isn't it. The Fiio is likely to compete with any standalone DAC under $50 in terms of sound quality, but DACs in the $100 range (e. g. , SMSL Sanskrit) would sound significantly better and provide you with more connectivity.

When it worked, it was a good value TV DAC, but it now has a background "fluttering" sound
3/5

This has been bothering me for the past eight months. It's fine as a TV DAC, but not so much for high-resolution music (which is to be expected given the price). br>br>I docked three stars because after six months, it began making an occasional "fluttering" sound in the background (almost like a soft helicopter or clicking noise). I've replaced every piece of audio gear I own, and the fluttering is the only thing I hear when this DAC is turned on. It's a phony background noise that will last for one minute. 2 seconds and appear at random (every 1- to 2-seconds). 2 minutes apart, or no time at all). It doesn't overpower the TV's main audio, and some people may not notice the fluttering, but now that I've noticed it, it will continue to bother me. br>br>If this problem does not resolve itself, I will need to replace this DAC with a better one.
