Questions & Answers

I don't understand why some capacitors are marked 440 / 370 while others specifically state 440 on the case or 370 with nothing else. What is the best use of 370/440?

In short, yes. * This is the highest voltage it can handle, so it will replace either of the voltages if they both exceed this amount.

Can you tell me if you're going to get the pictured capacitor (TOCF60) or the Was there a male head and maybe two or three?

The capacitor I received was not the one pictured, but the one described. TRCFD455 was the device in question. For the compressor, there are 45 mfd, and for the fan, there are 5 mfd. An array of 3 male connectors is marked C, FAN, and HERN.

Isn't this capacitor not made by Carrier going to void a Carrier warranty? I appreciate your help here. ?

In my opinion, I would not agree. My Lennox unit was able to use it

Getting this product is the best buy for anyone looking for how to troubleshoot their air conditioner
5/5

I have updated It is still working extremely well in January 2017, A/C system is reliable and there are no issues.

If you know how to troubleshoot A/C, this would be the best purchase you've ever made. I highly recommend this product as I saved a lot of money by buying it. system failed during the hottest time of the year, over 100 degrees with humidity, and I had to endure a miserable stay in my home. I would have had to pay over $100 if I had called a repairman. You have to spend more than $1000 dollars for a $10 replacement. This is an item 00. I received it the next day and it fit perfectly on my broken A/C. I got it shipped overnight and it was repaired right away. Should a recurrence of this problem occur, I plan to order two more. For your information There are three ends to this capacitor. I, FAN, and C HERM. It was nice to read your post.

My service call would have cost $350 if I had purchased this $8 part

Currently, I have a large house (7300 sf) with a Carrier dual phase AC system on the first and lower levels, and a second system (heat pump) on the second and loft levels. During the summer of last year, the upper level unit quit I spoke with an AC technician who took around two hours to figure out the problem. After several minutes of cutting on and off, the outside unit stopped operating. After $350, he finally replaced the capacitor, and the AC was back in working order. We've come to the end of eight months. With the unit for the first and lower levels, the same thing began to happen. The house was whining and I heard it coming from the side of the house as I stood outside. The investigation was conducted by me. As if the compressor fan were stuck, it appeared to be running. Trying to determine whether the fan motor had seized up, I broke the breaker and stuck a rod through the top grill to push the blade. Eventually, it made a single revolution only after I moved it and pushed it a little longer. My unit kicked on and the fan started running when the breaker went back in. My first floor started feeling warm even though the air conditioner was running. Two months later, I noticed the second floor was warm too. The temperature coming from the vent was warm, and I checked the temperature coming from the register. Outside I checked the unit to make sure that the fan was not only not spinning, but the device was not working The other day I was listening for the whining and humming sound and jumped to the conclusion that the entire compressor has failed as I had already expected it would eventually do so, but I simply monitored it for now. My AC tech from the past had given me a far better price, but unfortunately he wasn't able to come that day. I called another AC tech that I have used in the past, but he was not able to come either. In addition, he didn't return any of our calls when he said he would or come when he said he would. The friend we were talking to opened up the door to someone who knew a guy, who knew a guy, Considering the amount and frequency of rain on the east coast at this point, the outside temperature was getting milder and there was no rush to replace the unit for upwards of $3000. In my search to determine whether the entire unit needed to be replaced or if it could be fixed by replacing only the motor/fan assembly for less than the price of a replacement compressor, I came across the following symptoms. On the very first YouTube video I watched, there was a guy who described the exact same set of symptoms, first the fan wouldn't turn on, he pushed it like I did, and it ran for about another month, then it stopped working altogether. Video of the repair was made while he replaced the capacitor, and within ten minutes the unit was As a result, I did the same thing and my system was up and running in 5 minutes. I called Carrier to find the OEM part number without having to open up the unit until I was ready to repair it. Finding the right one and deciding which brand to trust were the biggest challenges. Despite the fact that my warranty is over, they declined to give it to me due to liability reasons (such BS). They obviously did not want to take away business As it turns out, I was able to get the part number from a distributor and Carrier does not produce their own parts anyway and uses multiple Chinese The reason I chose this one is it is widely used by Is very user-friendly and works perfectly. So that I wouldn't have to worry if the same thing happened again, I bought two. I saved myself more than $300 on this repair by using a few screws and less than ten minutes of work. The reliability of the part won't be known until after the unit has operated for a period of time. In the meantime, the problem was resolved with a $6 part ($8 when delivered with Prime).
Here's the thing about the guy who came to fix it the last time this happened. He had no clue My Smart Thermostat inexplicably didn't kick on and I ended up installing a Honeywell unit thinking it was the stat that was to blame for the issue. In the future, I will do my own HVAC repairs unless the unit needs to be replaced or if the temperatures are too high to go into the attack (but then I would do it just at night).

I used it in a pinch and it worked great
5/5

It was used to replace a failed 45uF, 440VAC capacitor in my HVAC system that had been in place for ten This is the only example I could find- I wanted a capacitor with the right specs to replace the broken one, so I bought this one. It was important to me that the physical dimensions of this capacitor were right for my HVAC system before ordering. The item arrived from Amazon within 24 hours, so I was able to get my air conditioner back up and running before the 90-degree weather arrived During this week's heat wave, there was a lot of heat. It's time for me to continue my search for a single-person It is true that I still need to build a capacitor to the right specs, but in the mean time, with the expected heat wave, I am glad I was able to order this with next-day delivery You can order from Amazon and receive it the next day. I sincerely thank God for Amazon.

This is an easy and inexpensive fix, but the capacitor will only last for a few weeks
3/5

I have updated It has just been one year since the Titan brand capacitor I installed in May 2020 failed. My outdoor unit is only started in summer, so the capacitor is only used for a few months of the year. So technically I did not even receive one year of service from the Titan In my American Standard Allegiance 12 air conditioner, I had to replace a Titan capacitor that failed after five years of service. *The fan on the outdoor unit stopped spinning, and when it should have turned on, it did not, even though the indoor unit's fan was blowing and the contactor was in place (indicating it is receiving power from the thermostat) and the fan on the outdoor unit had stopped spinning. By using a stick, I was able to spin the fan, but it was slow and eventually broke down. When I narrowed down the potential problems, and determined the culprit was likely the capacitor, I replaced it, and the problem was resolved. The capacitors in my case were faulty, but they did not appear to be corroded, bulging, Putting the capacitors in was very easy, and I was able to run my A/C again in a few minutes. Taking care of my own repairs saved me money, but because I did not have a spare capacitor on hand, my family and I were left without air conditioning for several days. It is a good idea to have an extra Titan capacitor on hand in case the first one goes bad, but they are cheap, so you might as well have an extra one I always keep a copy of my credit card on hand.
