It is very sturdy to use porcelain lampholders. Make sure you spend the extra money to get beautiful porcelain lampholders rather than using flimsy plastic ones. Even in the space of one to two years, I've seen plastic lamp holders crack and break. This is garbage! Unless a customer specifically requests it, I won't install anything else but porcelain lampholders in their homes.
The old ones are just like the new ones, they just have a smaller A set of holes beyond the pair on this one were on the old In this version, there is one pair of holes that do match the box, but the diameter of the unit is nearly the same as the circular box, so it does not completely cover the opening unless it is positioned precisely in the middle. But that won't be an issue for the garage.
I am in love with these classic porcelains. It is hard to find ones that are plastic and don't have chains or plugs in them. I think they look great with Edison bulbs in them. There is a downside you should know that they will not cover the In a retrofit, they are not going to cover the hole. For those looking to build from scratch, there is a box that works well.
The price is great, and the quality is excellent. This ceramic tile is easy to install and made from solid porcelain.
Having a snake vivarium that typically requires heat lamps of 100 watts to 150 watts made this item perfect for the situation. As of now, there have been no problems. I was able to fit the protective cage light I bought from Amazon around the base perfectly, as its circumference is quite small. I'm so glad!.
I was delighted to see that they looked so good when I opened the box. These were going to be sconces in a bathroom to give the room an industrial feel. When our electrician came to install them a few months later, he told us we needed to change the box as the lights did not fit. As of now it looks like Amazon updated the product description to say that this will fit an adult size 3 A 3/8" box would usually work, but previously it was stated that it would work with a 1/4" box Box with a width of 1/4" or one with a height of 4". That is the shame of it - I could easily have had them roughed in correctly had I known. Unless you need them in an alternative size, I would recommend them if they are the right size. My garage sale will be in a month, and you can come and pick them up for quarters.
