A three-pole circuit breaker is required. The amperage is determined by the load you're using it for and is divided into three phases. Mine serves as a 1 horsepower motor starter for me. In addition, right next to the unit I'm running is an emergency cutoff box. Switches are excellent for three-phase operation, and I strongly recommend them.

Cutoff for the split indoor unit. My Mitusubishi is a small car that has a lot of power. The main power (20Amp) is provided to the outdoor unit of the split heat pumps I recently installed. To meet code, a three-pole switch was required for the power, control, and ground wires (a total of four wires). These are the only three options available. Pole on/off switches are the only ones I could find, and they appear to be of good quality, but they're a bit pricey. These are likely your only option if you want to install to code, and Amazon has the best price. I hung them up (with regular old-fashioned nails). Each unit has its own workbox. It was an excellent solution. What I was looking for. The switch plate was a standard one. I used a 14g 4-ounce canister. eComfort, where I purchased my mini-computer, has a wire cable available. units that have been split Through the switches, the wire distributes power from the outdoor unit to the indoor units.
There are no issues with this switch. This is by far the most cost-effective method of switching 480 volts on and off. There are so many restrictions for high voltage equipment, and alternative contactors and other devices are 10X more expensive. br>I will buy this again if the need arises.

For a transformer, this was an excellent add-on. It was a perfect fit, and it saved us from having to install a second fused disconnect at floor level when we already had one in the ceiling. We try to turn off power to transformers as well, because they pull load even when the machine is not running.
This appears to be a well-made Leviton switch, which I've come to expect. To create a functional and professional-looking switch, I combined it with a switch box. I'm going to buy more.
