I have a 5 ton two-stage unit that appears to be around 3 tons in stage one and 5 tons in stage two. So, should I go for the 3 1/2 to 5 toning or the less than 3 toning?

My group was limited to three people. It weighs 5 tons and is simple to set up. I'd try it myself if I had your system, but I'm not sure how familiar you are with circuits, so I wouldn't recommend it to you. There is no voltage rating on this item. I require 120 volts of electricity. What voltage rating do you have?

It's rated for 400 volts, and the relay kicks in at 40 volts, so you should be fine. But I'm not sure what you're going to do with it; I've never heard of a 120 AC before. Keep in mind that the starter capacitor's job is to create the proper magnetic field for the compressor to operate in. It's not like there's anything to lose by giving it a shot.

In addition, I'd like to discuss some safety concerns to ensure that those attempting a DIY installation do not receive a nasty zap or worse. I'm a big believer in do-it-yourself and saving money, but I believe in saving lives even more. I couldn't make recommendations that I believed put people in danger in good conscience. br>br>However, it is entirely possible to do this correctly; however, exercise caution when working with high voltage and become thoroughly acquainted with the procedure before making any changes. Hopefully, some of the information provided below will assist you in doing so. Above all: br>br> Do not attempt this procedure without an AC clamp meter, preferably one with a 600VAC rating and probe plug-ins for measuring capacitor capacitance. This is a non-negotiable. It's also a good idea to double-check that what you've done isn't wreaking havoc on your air conditioner and that it's working properly. Amazon has a variety of low-cost off-brand options ranging in price from $20 to $100. Electricians and professionals have given this product a high rating of $25. For $25, it makes no sense to risk a very expensive air conditioner and a priceless human life. br>br>Now that I've given that speech, let me clarify a few things: 1. br>br> A start cap is not required for a scroll compressor, according to some HVAC technicians. While this may be true in an ideal world, any compressor will benefit in a practical real-world application. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br It is critical to have a POTENTIAL relay. All of the Genteqs were ideal. All of the questionable off-brand options were around $8, while my Genteq was $25 shipped. It's not worth $17 to risk your entire air conditioning system. This is not an area where you should be trying to save money. 9. br>br> Determine the size of your AC handler using the method below, and then size up a little (in this case, I had a 3 ton AC and used this ton hard start instead of the 2-ton hard start). However, take note! When wiring this up, pay close attention! Again, PAY ATTENTION and, if you're unsure which is which, get an electrician to do it for you! The instructions associate the T1 side of the A/C start relay with the Common side, but T2 is the common side on my Trane unit. br>Apart from that, it was a breeze to set up - It took ten minutes total, five of which were spent securing the components to the air conditioning chassis. This was recommended by the air conditioning company for $270 (parts and labor). You can save money by doing it yourself.

5 ton. When the compressor kicks on, the house lights dim a little, so I got one of these kits (admittedly, I have all LED in the house, so it's possible they're just more susceptible to voltage dips). br>br>It took me all of 5 minutes to put it together, with the majority of that time spent double-checking the capacitor wiring (mine were color-coded to a tee, but it's better to be safe than sorry). The compressor inrush was reduced by 113 percent thanks to the kit. 4 to 88. 1 amps! A total of 103 LRA can be handled by the system. It uses about 14 amps while running, but the kit has no effect on that - Just to give you an idea of how much current it takes to start, and it also seemed less violent, but I'm not usually standing next to the unit when it turns on. br>br>We'll see about durability and light dimming now that our AC season is over, but the kit does exactly what it should.

Air conditioners with capacities of 5 and 4 tons. I was attempting to reduce the inrush current so that my portable generator could power my air conditioners. These worked perfectly with my Duromax 13000EH. A maximum of 51 amps can be handled by the generator. So, after you've completed the 5-step process, I give it a hard start by turning on the main AC first, then the secondary. After they're both up and running, I simply turn on everything else. Refrigerator, freezer, garage door, television, lights, internet, fans, and anything else Iffy, if I needed to use the dryer, I could probably do so because the amperage is down to 19 Amps after these guys have finished. br>br>I love this unit and would buy it again if I didn't already have two, one for each of my air conditioners. The other AC 3 is, just in case you didn't notice. This reduced the 5ton's amp draw from 77 to 32 in rush amps.

Simply turn off the power and discharge the capacitors to complete the installation. There's no need to hire an expensive AC technician who will try to upsell you on everything. It will start more easily and run more quietly. This product will satisfy you, and it is less expensive than an air conditioning supply company. I have an air conditioning license, which I purchased for $48 from a supply store. It was $44 on Amazon when I bought it for my son. That's a deal you can't pass up.
