Questions & Answers

Thanks for visiting. Could you please tell me if this product works for stainless steel, drilling as well as Thanks a lot. ?

Carbide-tipped drill bits have been used successfully to drill stainless steel burners on a grill.

In the description it says this is pro tap, but the picture is of regular less expensive tap? Would you mind telling me what it is?

In fact, I received the sample shown in the photo of me with the 4 oz "Tap Magic EP-" The part number for XTRA Cutting Fluid 20857 is 20857. This is 10004E". My understanding is that the difference between this one and the one with a different number is nothing more than a number. A solution like this has more of a consistency similar to water. Tap oil that I am used to uses thick gear oil, but this one looks (judging by reviews and answers) like the one professional machinists

The shelf life of this product How long is it good for?

The product has been part of my daily regimen for the past 35 years. Its shelf life is prolonged as in several years from the time it is

Because of its highly reactive nature, the solution may cause skin issues
3/5

Nonetheless, the product works extremely A short secondary contact interaction caused me to develop contact dermatitis. In this product, one of the chemical compounds (likely an amine) is highly reactive, and hives-like symptoms may appear. As well as testing the products components for volatile fatty acids with NMR and GC mass spectroscopy, I am also testing for bacterial contaminants from the beta and alpha bacteria This suggests that the triethanol amine and the trade secret amine complex are likely to be the cause of the reactivity on the For my part, I think a stronger warning should be on the product, and/or on the safety listing for proper handling in addition, I suggest DO NOT using latex gloves when you use this product since these are porous and may not protect you. When using this product, make sure you wear gloves that are made from nitrile. If you experience any adverse reactions, make sure to use cortisone to the localized skin affected areas and antihistamine to reduce swelling and redness.

Use Magic Cutting Oil on your cutting surfaces
5/5

machinist (now retired), for 23+ years, I can attest that this is one of the most popular cutting oils, and has been for at least 44 years and probably even longer, (I worked as an apprentice when I was 14 years old. An old one). I prefer to use this cutting oil for tap and die work or single point threading because it's of high quality and works well in machine shops. You can also use it as a cutting oil for small metal cutting tasks at home if you do DIY work. The blades I bought can be used on a 1" hole saw to cut through 6061 T6 aluminum and 1018 mild steel, for instance. One of Tap Magic's greatest advantages is that it produces virtually no smoke when your tool and work surface heat up. As a matter of fact, it produces much less smoke than the dark, heavy machining oil that was common in machine shops in the 1970s. When oil was popular back then, there were several 'heavy' oils even though water was a common element. In terms of soluble oils, we were getting off to a good start.

Tap Magic is expensive in small quantities, but you only need a few drops of it In addition to keeping the tool and work surface cool, the special ingredients in the TM oil aid in preventing rust. In order to cut most steels, it is crucial to do this. For example, if you're cutting 2 percent mild steel like 4140 , (non-stainless A heat-generating device If you are in a treated state), you can work quickly It is important to harden the surface so much that it cannot be cut, drilled, or machined in any way with any tool steel cutters! If you don't pay attention to your 'feed and speed', (surface footage rating), for the type of material you're working with, you're likely to run into this problem. Depending on how hot the work surface and the tool become, you can wind up with an area that will simply burn off, e. g. , above 45RC I- (a very hard scale, where a hardening tool would be used on a job of that hardness). Tapping Magic helps to prevent that, but you must monitor both your speed and feed rate of your cut in a way that keeps the cutting teeth of the tool under stress and does not allow them to rub, which is the first step to a poor cut. I got out of machine shops for good in the year (2000), but up to that point this product was considered a must have within most shops. am sure that this is still a popular oil used in job shops all over the world, if not the country. It is safe to say that with that type of endorsement, this oil is simply a 5 star product.

In gold it's worth its weight
5/5

The best way to spend your day. can you cut and drill faster, but you can also drill more accurately You will, however, see a dramatic increase in the life of your tools. It costs a little less than $10, but you can save lots of money on drill bits, not to mention wasted time. And a little can really goes a Take advantage of it and make use of In case you are unfamiliar, it is simply a matter of putting a few drops of the stuff between your tool and your material. Squeeze a few drops right on the surface of the metal where you want a hole to be drilled, for instance, if you are drilling steel on a work bench or press. It is easier to apply the fluid directly to the drill bit if you are drilling horizontally (or straight up). In order to do it correctly, you will see big chips flying (or even long strands of curly metal). In the case of a pitched squeal instead of a satisfying metal chewing spin), stop and rethink I am interested. In the optimal case you want to apply enough pressure so as to avoid that point, but you can learn how to do that through practice. More importantly than just cutting faster (and burning up fewer bits), this stuff also prevents drill bit shattering "snags" when drilling into metal. I don't like having to pull a hardened bit out of a block of steel since it is really annoying. The following advice will help you Whenever drilling through thick steel (say, one that is thicker than 1/8"), it is helpful if you 'woddle' the hole slightly to avoid getting caught in snags. I used a technical term for that. While drilling, you should drill in small (very small) circles. I am sure it is worth every penny for drilling steel Metal workers who need a speedy way to accomplish their tasks will enjoy it.
