A couple of custom doors I'm making require mortising for hinges, so I purchased this tool for that purpose. This tool was used in conjunction with a Bosch Colt and hinge mortising jig, and did a great In addition to being a little lighter than my favorite Freud, it also cuts a little deeper, which means you can use it with a shop-built jig to cut dados and grooves. While it is not a great deal cheaper than Freud bits, it is delivered quickly and I do not have to make a trip to the big box store where I tend to buy gadgets every now and then. Using this bit, I will be cutting a recessed river into a patio table, which will be filled with small river rocks and then topped with resin. Thus far, the bit seems to be cutting well. I used this bit to cut a groove 1/2 inch deep into hardwood, but it didn't make it half the way through the cut. My board is now completely wasted and I have wasted a lot of time.
I used two of these different sizes. It is very strange that these are the first parts that show up on Amazon when someone searches for a quality part. I am over this Made In China crap now. By the way, they took 3 1/2 weeks to ship "prime" according to their advertisement.
It's a good price for someone like me who uses the internet occasionally.
It was well packaged and at a great price. I approve (Prov.
It is as smooth and buttery as It has never been applied to hardwoods, so my review cannot be regarded as an endorsement.
