This tool set has been invaluable for me because it combines with a post from AXA QC. Compared to 1/4" HSS bits held in a lantern, this is a significant improvement and much easier to handle In short, the inserts should be snugged up before use, but they are fine on their own. Flats on the boring bar enable it to be inserted into a typical holder, so there is no need to purchase a special holder.
Chips are magnetic and held in place. As such, these are not 1/2", they are 12mm, and should be labeled The tooling is almost 0. It would be nice if it weren't so annoying when switching from another tooling. The depth of the pool is 030". It's not like I was planning to return them, I needed to use them, so I bought them and I'll adjust.
Edit on February 29th It was only when cutting steel that I noticed it. There is a magnet in each of these. You can all do it. A layer of chips gets applied to them. All tool holders have been compass tested, but the boring bar is fine, the other tool holders are magnetic, and I am not yet able to de-magnetize My mistake was that they were the wrong size, and I should have returned them.
This is great and I hope it continues to work well. Their rigid nature and sharpness makes them stand out in a crowd. I like the fit of the inserts. There was no corrosion on them and they were well oiled. I like the cuts a lot - My opinion is that the edge could be a bit sharper, but I will try some other inserts and update the review if I find any that are better. In overall, I am quite impressed with the product considering its.
It seems to work fine. A borer bar has a shank diameter of 12mm. My thinking was that it should be a 1/2 inch set.
The package arrived in good shape. Steel is a good substrate for them. I love it.
Their build and finish are good, and each comes with a torx driver.
I like it a lot.
I am very satisfied with these. A Chinese 7x mini lathe with a quick change tool post is what I'm using them on.
