How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

This drill prevents walking on contact with a 135° split-point
An improved chip ejection when drilling metal and wood is achieved by using a parabolic flute design
For greater wear resistance, black oxide is coated
As the helix is 31°, the over aggression of a true parabolic flute is minimized

Questions & Answers

Is there a way to fit them into a ?

The answer is yes. It is possible to fit the drill bits due to their hexagonal ends. There is only one drill bit smaller than 3/8, so that's as it stands. The 1/2 in question here is the only one at stake.

Which shank or shaft size should I use for my drill that has a 3/8" chuck size?

As long as the largest bit is 1/2", you should be able to fit it.

Do you think it will work on ?

Dry wall will be able to be penetrated easily.

What is the dewalt impact driver's compatibility with these bits?

In order to use them, you must first use a drill with a regular bit.

This is not the same DWA1184 set Project Farm appreciated so much
3/5

Since I bought my very first set locally awhile back, after watching a YouTube video review on a variety of drill bit sets by Project Farm, I have noticed that their design has changed. The black and gold variety is now called black and gold and does not even match the image of the amazon listing because as of tonight, 7/19, the set I just received today has very little black and is covered most of the time with an unidentified gold liquid/film on the outside. inner surfaces of the flutes are the only surfaces to be certain of being black oxide. It appears that the image shown above (as of today anyways) is still the ALL black drills, not those with gold coatings on outer edges that I received. It would have been counterproductive for me to order them if I had known this. The Project Farm guy has been asked to amend his video review to retest this new design before rating the DWA1184 so highly on his YouTube I fear that a similar thing has happened to DeWalt's products as another favorite of mine recently stated that when they gained fame from being so good, the corporate types began to speculate on how they could profit more from the product now that it had become Yes, I do! Bringing manufacturing costs down is our priority!.

This product was shown as black oxide black stainless steel bits and I ordered that however, I was delivered black and gold instead
3/5

I know it is confusing, but this product is described as black oxide black stainless steel bits. Despite the fact that Black and Gold bits say they are good for wood, metal, and plastic, the only detail I can find for the metal types intended to be drilled on the case is a picture that looks like galvanized roofing sheet metal. Due to the fact that I needed the kit right away, I used it even though it wasn't the correct As I was drilling mild steel 1/16" at a time with this bit, one of the cutting tips twisted off completely and now it's useless. I'm not sure what black and gold is supposed to indicate. Besides dulling the edge, it also removed dirt and debris There is a 1/8" hole in the drill bit from where it snapped. The tip would probably have to be ground off before I could apply a new one. A piece of 1/4" (1/4" I think) was twisted off cleanly. least, I would appreciate a replacement for the bit that malfunctioned from the very start. disclosure, I used a Milwaukee 18V cordless hammer drill at its lowest rpm setting on the "1" setting, not the hammer mode. There was plenty of room above my truck in order to drill perpendicular to the hole above, but it wasn't a straight shot. breaking of the one size bit, all the other bits produced relatively good chip sizes and the cut speed of the bit was fairly fast. The only way to improve my review would be for DeWalt to afford me a fair replacement of the defective bit and complete disclosure as to the difference between the black oxide that I ordered and the black and gold that I received, so that I can use the bits properly.

A great value for the money
5/5

It has been noted in other reviews here and in reviews at Home Depot and so on that DeWalt's classification of drill bits has been anything but clear. This set seems to be SW1162, but is also colored Black & as well as as black and as well as as white. On DeWalt's website, you can also find Gold bits like these. The website implies that the only way to get "Black Oxide" bits is to order the 1162 set since individual bits aren't shown. There appears to be only 1 type of bit below the Titanium grade, HSS "Black & White". A product in the "Gold" line is listed above with the part number DWA1184 which corresponds to the parts number above for this product. Cost sets may say inches in the title, but the fine print is in metric, and if they come in boxes, the indexing is in metric as well, so you will need to use a conversion app to choose the appropriate measurement). My only objective was to find some throw away bits for drywall and other non-construction materials It is a highly precise activity, and these will likely be great for that, as well as for lighter DIY drilling such as sheet steel drilling. For $4 more than the Titanium model, you can obtain the same set of tools in their Titanium series, or for $20 more you can upgrade to 8% industrial cobalt, either from Bosch or DeWalt. highly doubt you'll find anything better for $10 or less, especially since they were developed by DeWalt, have no-spin shanks, come in the standard DeWalt modular stackable box and are beautifully indexed in standard inch units both on the bit and the box. Normally, higher end bits are used for all these things. I agree that the complaint about the misleading photo and description is valid, but it would be more constructive if those of you who want to mark the rating down and complain could show the rest of us where it is possible to get a cheaper The same price could be offered at a lower cost or at a higher quality It will then be ready for us to jump on. That's not going to be easy, I believe.

I received an item that wasn't shown in the picture
3/5

In any case, I ordered these bits because I have a great deal of success with It was the black and gold bits I received when I got them. That does not sit well with me. There is an error in the item description. While the item numbers match, the actual product is not the same as the image. Time will tell how they hold up but I know gold ones stink, so I can't predict how they are going to hold up.

It's a nice set, but the description is incorrect
5/5

There is some evidence of this in one of the reviews, what is pictured is not exactly what you receive. I am attaching a picture of what I received, a black and gold Dewalt. As far as I am concerned, I don't mind, but if you need black oxide bits for a specific application,.

Others have stated that it is not black oxide. Therefore, it will not be what is listed above.

Effortless, reliable drill bits at a low price
5/5

The drill bits aren't the sharpest or the most durable on the market, but for the price, there are no better options. I needed some drill bits to fix up the fence in my backyard and build a complaint I have is that they are hard to put back in their spots, maybe I'm doing it wrong but sliding the bits back is difficult when you think that it should be a small movement, but they do the job, anything else at this price is just a bonus.
