Questions & Answers

Is it possible to drill through cinder blocks with this drill. ?

You didn't ask whether it will break like that if it's a cinder block, not a concrete block, but if you're asking that question, you're looking at the wrong part. If you would like to search for Masonry, add it to your search.

Can you drill this bit to a depth of x mm? It does not appear that the fluting covers a lot of length at all. ?

Generally speaking, the depth limit of drilling would be defined by the fluting depth. It is possible to go deeper, up to the teeth of the chuck, in softer materials. drill bits made, but they are more expensive and more difficult to obtain than the traditional "jobbers length" drills.

This would be suitable for making a smoking pipe stem by drilling a hole in wood? Would it be possible to use it manualluy to drill the hole if there was an attachment?

The bit is used for merely drilling the hole in the stem of the pipe. If an antique auger is unable to be used automatically, you may be able to use a contemporary auger or grind flats on the bit to work manually. Mine is used in a variable speed hand drill with the work piece secured in a vise and I just go slow. It works well, and the rigidity of the bit prevents the tool from wandering, if you are careful to apply little pressure and let the tool do its

Does this drill have the power to drill through steel fence posts?

Heat and thickness of the metal need to be considered when choosing any drill bit. The drill bit may also break from binding if it is too long. A steel fence post with this long of a bit is the first time I have used one. It would make more sense to approach with caution, or at least more robustly.

We threw it out after we used it just a few times
3/5

The drill bit I got from DEWALT is a black oxide drill bit in 3/8" Measures 12 inches x 12 inches The high ratings have helped the 16-inch (DW1610) become the best-selling model. There was disappointment in my heart. In my experience, I only got one or two good holes out of It would spin after that, but never pass through a metal stud This is garbage. The money spent was not worth it. Despite being half the size of this one, I have only had to replace it after drilling a dozen holes with it and it is still working great.

The results left me dissatisfied and suspicious
3/5

It is DeWalt, and I have an instinctive trust in it, as it is historically one of the best tools As of yet, I have not taken it to the woodshed, but at the moment I am not anticipating the best results. My dismay at finding out that it's DISTRIBUTED by DeWalt cannot be conveyed in words. A red flag at the border They didn't make it, so it's not theirs. As I expected, it's from feel like I have been betrayed over and over again. During my year as an industrial technical consultant, I have had the opportunity to work in China and with engineers who have the same exposure to know that Chinese performance standards are essentially defined by "whatever they can get away with. ". It is common, but not always the case, that the product won't at best quite meet all its stated standards - in other words, it falls short in one way or another " In their effort to outdo their foreign competitors, Chinese manufacturers often "pay lip service" to specific specifications, such as the chromium or vanadium content of steel, or the tempering, or perhaps the chemical origin of certain dyes, colorants, or coatings. In light of the competitive nature of the industry, the export of lead was once again a viable option After they poisoned some of our kids with lead-based paint, some of the toys still contained the paint. Basically, they subscribe to the philosophy "looks like" that mandates any product that is similar to that intended to be replicated is indeed very similar. As a single measure, optics can never provide assurance of a product's quality, and I think DeWalt has gone the way of many once-popular brands In the past, American industry was unmatched, but now it is soiled. The majority of Chinese industrial technology is derived from or directly but inaccurately copied from American or European developments, yet the Chinese generally don't possess the experienced expertise necessary to support the kind of precision that we take for granted in virtually every American product, whether it is targeted at consumers or industry. While some aspects of the Good Old Days were significantly superior to their modern descendants, there were some things that were wrong. I am editing I see that the reviewer before me had an extremely negative experience with the product. It might be unsuitable for hardwoods (illegal application), plastics, and some soft metals, but could possibly work for softer materials like wood or plastic without damage. It's time to snuff in the big-time There is a boy world out there. My suspicions are totally justified, and even more so my feelings of betrayal and disappointment are greatly heightened. Besides DeWalt's standards, what happened to them? In addition, what kind of product can justify such a high price for an inferior product? (I did look around a bit and discovered American bits in the same size but three times more expensive. The price is what you pay for. Ya get what you pay for. Beware of scams and frauds caveat emptor It is a phrase one would never have thought would be applied to DeWalt products in the past. )Even if the bit is a good piece of equipment and defies all the apparently justified negative suspicions, I will never buy another product from DeWalt again.

I was let down by DeWALT again this time In general, I enjoy DeWALT products, but this time around, the product as well as the customer service were disappointing
3/5

This drill bit is used to drill a hole in the door frame to insert a sensor for an alarm system. When I flung the drill around, the shank on the drill bit bent during the first use nearly ripping my finger off. We will bring everything up once in a while, and DeWALT has great warranties, so no problem, DeWALT, and after I spoke with their customer service rep, I was told that I would have to pay to ship this $15 drill bit to their warranty department. My understanding of power tools is fine, but what about drill bits? Having the ability to take care of customers well is what makes Amazon so great, so I politely told them No thanks and that I would contact them and guess what, they did, Perhaps I should rethink my brand loyalty as I use my power tool kit set to search for a replacement. It is obvious in the photo that the bit was used to drill through sheetrock and thin wood. When the shank is made of this material, it should not bend! The issue was resolved by Amazon and they sent me a replacement drill bit, so thanks to them, and shame on DeWALT for not looking out for their.

Drilling bit that works great as a pilot Drilling bit that works great as a pilot This is what I use to drill through walls and determine where the hole will be made on the opposite side it is the right length and diameter and if you make a bad hole by mistake it is easy to cover it does not bend easily, and it is very sharp

Pilot drilling made easy with this drill bit.

The work was done for six The situation is not good
3/5

This was necessary because of its length, but useless after the six holes it drilled. The name DEWALT being attached to such a poorly made bit is very disappointing. I was very disappointed with my.

I like it for the price, but it broke in half very In addition to building guitars, I also do a lot of guitar work
4/5

Pilot holes were made on guitar bodies using this tool. I had a problem with it once where it was cut in half. I bought another one after buying the first one and it's been working fine ever since.

Pros 2)Good price

Cons1) Good quality with long length holes to drill for guitar building. 1) Broke in half after 4 uses, after using for 3 months.

Drill bit with an extremely sharp point
5/5

In an error of judgement, I purchased the wrong size drill bit. I wanted to feed some cable through to another room, but the cable was thicker than 1/4 Although the diameter wasn't correct, this extra long drill bit helped me determine the distance between the walls of two rooms and served as a pilot hole well. In order to enlarge the hole, I drilled on both the back side of the wall as well as the front side. With wood, I drilled straight through and with plaster I did so with great ease, for plaster I poked a few holes in it and it went through just fine. By drilling the hole a bit longer, you ensure that it stays straight, thus making pulling the cable easier.

It fades fast even when lots of cutting fluid is used
3/5

The 3/8 shank makes this bit suitable for smaller drills, and it is one of the few large bits larger than 1/2 inch. This is used at my job on a mini portable drill press that has only a 3/8 arbor however, since it is very small, it is much easier to set up than a I find it to be very convenient. There is still some sharpness on the bit, but it is significantly less than when it was brand I noticed that after drilling ten holes through 1/4 inch thick A106 carbon steel pipe, it took three times as long as the first round. Its still functioning, but for the price I thought it would be faster.
