Questions & Answers

Which country is the origin of this product?

Unlike many other step bits, Milwaukee's are made in the United States. The issue with Amazon is that it's subject to counterfeiting. I've run low voltage at one of their manufacturing facilities in MS in the past.

The description says the holes are only two sizes, but it has four sizes in total A 7/8" and a 1" How can it have steps for so many other sizes, yet it only has one step for 1/8? In what ways is the limitation imposed?

A conduit can be made with this. 7/8" hole is needed for conduit of 1/2" and a 1" hole is needed for conduit of 1" The hole needed for a 3/4" conduit should be an inch and a half wide.

It's SDS, isn't it?

The SDS system does not work.

How well does this work with plastic cutting?

Plastic and light metals will pass through it, but it is designed for plastic.

Selected User Reviews For Milwaukee Electric Tool 48-89-9209 Electric Step Drill Bit, No 9, Silver metallic

It's fantastic! I love The good thing about this is that you can drill holes in thin metals and probably other materials with it
5/5

Any material that is thick would be difficult to use this way, because the hole would just be a cone. Previously I had heard good things about some of the cheaper tools, and now I'm glad I paid a little bit more and got a good one Tools can be very important if they are of high quality. Thus far, I have only used it a handful of times, but it seems to be durable. It's the best tool I've ever used.

It's all in the quality bit, really With the options offered by Amazon and other local vendors, I decided to go with the one that was at a decent price
5/5

In addition it is a far better option than the cheaper ones. You will save money in the long run, not to mention your time and frustration from dealing with a junk bit. (Such as this) If you plan on using it more than once, then just purchase a quality bit the first time. Oil will help you keep it for a long time.

It cuts through wood or metal with no problems and very little resistance.

It is one of the longest-lasting bits I have used
5/5

I have used a lot of brands in the past, but Milwaukee's bits last the longest. However, drilling mild steel will dull them faster than drilling stainless In addition, you shouldn't overheat them as you would with any other bit.

Don't miss out on this! I did a quick job on the boat trailer upgrades I'm working on
5/5

It is definitely beneficial to drill a pilot hole first. It is difficult for me to drill with bits that slip. Nevertheless, this one held on until the very end.

This is a helpful tool
5/5

Stainless steel is easy for them to pierce, I think it's good alternative to a drill for those jobs.

I would recommend this tool to anyone
5/5

Use low speed and do not use too much stainless steel when cutting.
