My 20-year-old Craftsman 12" bandsaw wasn't cutting it anymore, and a dull blade appeared to be the source of the problem. I used an Olson 1/4 inch 6 TPI blade (80 inch) to install it. Despite only performing a basic guide reset, the saw performed admirably. I tried a 5 inch dried Maple log section for a quick resaw test. Tracking was my biggest issue with the old blade, and this new blade did an excellent job of following both straight and curved cuts. (Yes, I realize a wider blade would be better for resawing, but I wanted to see how the blade would perform in thick material. ) ) I'll pick up a few more Olson blades and get my bandsaw up and running again!.
We'll have to wait and see how these hold up over time, but I put this blade on and got to work cutting some bowl blanks right away. The first was bubinga wood, which is hard and dense, and the second was Jatoba wood. But none of that mattered to this blade; it cut like butter, leaving no burn marks and a smooth finish.
This blade is incredible. Sharp enough to sever foam rubber and powerful enough to pierce wood. Planks, logs, whatever you want to call them. WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARNING - WARN Even a small amount of thin sheet steel is unsuitable for use. It won't cut anything worth spitting after cutting through some of that. I don't blame the blade for this, so it's still a five-star item in my book.
I used this blade to replace a lowes Bosch blade on my craftsman 12" bandsaw; I will never buy another Bosch bandsaw blade again; this thing cuts like a hot knife through butter.
I was cutting some thick hardwood when I noticed how well they tracked and cut. I had a 1/2-inch saw that I was using for straight cuts, but I needed something with a tighter radius, so I bought this one. It performed admirably on both curves and straight lines.
25 Olson Saw FB14580DB 80 by 025- Blade for a band saw that is one inch in diameter. Like other reviewers, I installed this blade on a Craftsman 12-inch saw from the 1970s. band saw with an inch blade I finally purchased this blade after weeks of cleaning and adjusting the saw as well as cleaning the blades I had. The saw is now cutting properly once more. Suffer and buy decent blades, as others have suggested. I'm definitely going to buy more in a variety of sizes.
These are nice and sharp and will last a long time; I made the mistake of going with Bosch instead of Olson. They were only cut for about 2 hours.
I bought an old Craftsman 12 inch band saw in 1968, and I've used it at least once a week since then. With this old saw, I've gone through a lot of blades, and I can honestly say that the Olson blades cut smoother and last longer than any other blade I've ever bought. For all-around use, I prefer the 1/4-inch skip tooth blade. This blade cuts quickly through thick materials and allows me to keep a tight grip on the intended cut line, even on tight curves. Because the blade leaves a relatively smooth edge, finishing the cut edge requires the least amount of trimming and sanding. On rare occasions, I've used these blades to cut 3/4-inch aluminum bar stock. I've tried a lot of different blades, but I always come back to Olson because of their quality and dependability.
