The Red backing does come off very easily by rotating the device. I have used 3M double side sticky tape and the backing always comes off easily. I am not at all interested in this stuff. While it is good tape, I was concerned about how much time it would take to stick 60 small pieces to my panels if I hadn't removed the backing off the roll.

There is a lot I like about this product. My drill will not drill into dry wall and I will be able to avoid drilling into wires and figure out how to avoid drilling into them. There is a lot of sticky stuff there! Moreover, I can use it to mount floating shelves to my wall in place of nails, since it can hold decent amounts of weight. Putting in dry wall is a lot easier than painting a bit first, although it might peel off the paint.

The panels I used to soundproof my home were made with this. 1 roll of 12 x 12 panels came to an end when I installed them. Taking 5 pieces of this tape and placing them on each panel results in this. There is a very strong adhesion and the film is actually adherent. The product I received today has only been used on a single application, but it seems to be quite heavy duty (probably more so than what I needed). One complaint is that there was no instruction on how to remove the protective film they provided Instructions can be found in the product description on their Amazon It was important to me that it was level across and had no paint peeling off so I removed one corner of the map. As a result of a very small sample size, I am not sure that it can happen in the future, but nonetheless, I was pleasantly surprised by it.

Whenever I need it, I use this. Those things that have trouble standing on their own are held on shelves using this. To make the stickiness, I use a very small piece of wood and push it down hard. After a lot of trial and error, I got it right. To make sticky tape adhere better, do not touch the red part covering it. Reroll it and keep your finger on the red part so your fingers don't touch it. Rub the red part on the bottom part of the item to ensure that it adheres well. As soon as the red part has been pulled back, I cut the desired length.
