How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

Fast cure time - One-part adhesive sealants do not require mixing, and typically cure within 48 hours, so you can get back on the water sooner.
PERMANENT BOND - Works great for sealing, bonding, and attaching on the inside of boats and RVs, or on the exterior of boats and RVs below the waterline and where the sun isn't shining.
DURABLE FORMULA - The hard polyurethane polymer stands up to salt water and weathering

Questions & Answers

Is this a good way to attach a galvanized sheet metal to an aluminum boat?

The load determines how long it takes. Please ensure that the adhesive is fully cured before moving the joint.

How well does this work on a 2 inch pvc coupling that has been submerged in ?

It is the best hope for a repair of anything I am aware of if the coupling is underwater and cannot be moved out of the water or the water drained. This would be applied after I had cleaned and steel wooled the surface. In attempting to determine what the situation is and whether or not this would be a solution, I am merely guessing. the 3m 05220 I have is really impressive. Basically, it was made to attach stuff on fiberglass hulls of boats while they are still in the water, such as speed sensors.

How do you find out if this works ?

Yes, you cannot remove it once it has been set up

If the adhesive can be sanded, does that mean it can also be buffed?

There will be a little filler under the sand paper. Any adhesive depends on the quality of the surface prep, which determines how well it will adhere to the surfaces and therefore how finely you can feather it.

A magic trick
5/5

A crack appeared in the water basin of our toilet as we were replacing the subfloor in our bathroom. It would have cost us a lot of money to replace a toilet, and we were trying to keep the project under budget. My extensive research of online handyman resources reveals that someone has posted an advice request on a forum, specifically for how to get started. Here's what you can do when you have barely cracked porcelain on the It was less than reassuring to see the responses. It was unanimously recommended that the purchaser of a new toilet replace the existing one. "Use the 3M on the boat. ". Is it possible that it would As I bit, my mouth watered. We dried out the back of the toilet with towels in preparation for the big (little) delivery, and then we blew dry it like an old lady. During the two days we spent there, it was as if we were in the desert. We covered the porcelain crack, which was nearly 6 inches long and not as wide as the basin, after we received it. We also covered the inside On both sides of the basin, we layered it on until there was 1/2 inch of caulk. As we waited, we were awaiting with bated Could we have just bought a new toilet for $10 instead of spending $10 on a design that wasn't going to work? It would be wise to wait and see. After 72 hours of applying this miracle goop, we checked the outside, and it felt very solid - not that putty texture that caulk generally has, but like a hard plastic sheath, not like a toy you bought at the dollar store. As we filled the basin, we clenched our teeth. We were optimistic on the first day since there had been no leaks. By the end of the second day, the outside of the toilet was as dry as a bone. Almost two months have passed since Jimmie's fix was made, and not a drop of errant water has leaked However, I cannot entirely rule out the possibility that it would hold together a deeper, wider, or longer crack, although I would hesitate to use it for a basin that's broken in pieces.

Excellent adhesive for use in the marine environment
5/5

The one I turn to Perfect for everything from marine adhesive to construction adhesive. Applying more heavily is not effective, however, and it remains for many years. I dap it into the corners if I think I may want to remove it, so I can slide a razor in there. Else, I apply more liberally, and it stays for years. I always wear goggles when I'm in the pool because they get tacky very fast! The moment you let a little stream of water fall on you, you're in trouble! Although this is true for any adhesive, it does become stringy or semi-stringy after a while Taking them all at once is the best way to deal with them. As a result, getting your protective gear on and off is easier. Rub alcohol WILL NOT remove it, except for a few drops on a cotton ball- That's the way to go! The following is a guide for cleaning I'm sick of excess and you're sick of me. An essential item to have on hand is a bottle and rag. This is a bit too touchy for delicate items, but it is great nevertheless. In case of emergencies, I keep a tube of it and pieces of plexi and wood at the ready.

A lack of important details in the ad
3/5

It may or may not be a good product, but I do not know for sure. In the package instructions, it is stated that the product MUST be used within 24 hours of opening, so I read the instructions after receiving the product. In my case this and other factors make the use of this document impractical over a long period of time. I requested a return of the unopened product, but I was informed that it would not be accepted. I don't like the fact that their ad doesn't have that information.

Easy to use but difficult to maintain
3/5

Neither seals nor encloses. Some folks may find this stuff useful, but I didn't find it helpful at all. A leaky reservoir was found in an outdoor water fountain. I tried this 3M stuff not once but twice because the reviews said it worked well. Reviewers are wrong, so the results are wrong too. There is still a leak in the fountain. As if that wasn't bad enough, once you open the tube, you have to use ALL of the product within a few hours before it hardens up, because you can't keep it. eventually bought a different product in which you tear a chunk off without damaging the rest of the putty Make sure it is similar to the substance, then mash it in. The 3M product I bought recently will never sit on my shelves.

I have used this product before, and it is one of the best
5/5

I have used this product before, and it is one of the best. There is a product available from Permatex that is 99 to 100% equivalent at a significantly reduced cost. If you are building a boat, RV, or any other project, I would recommend either systems. Additionally, I recommend reducing the opening as much as possible to provide a better seal. The problem with over-application is that it can end up looking awful. I read that it says the cure time is 7 days. The best bet is to believe it. The service is available 24 hours a day. As far as I am concerned, reusing products after opening is a concern for some users. I have used several hundred dollars' worth of both 3M and Permatex brand. Be sure to close the tube tightly once you have resealed it. Since I have kept it for several months for reuse, I re-used it last week and it didn't do any harm. Although, just a thought, my guess is that when it's sealed to be used later, the opening of the tube could harden over time. As a result, I had to drill through the hardened sealant to get to the useful.

This is how I fixed a light beneath my pool
5/5

There is a leak on the back of an underwater pool light device where the cord enters To seal it, I tried everything I could think of. There's no way I can get it to work anymore unless I buy a whole new unit, which isn't only costly but inconvenient since you have to pull the cord through the conduit and hope it won't get jammed somewhere of the way. As soon as I found out about this, I thought it would be worth a try, and I am.

Boots that leak have been repaired with this product
5/5

I tell you, man, this stuff is awesome! The glue has gone on dry boots, waders, decoys, and some old waders that have needing new soles. It is by far the best product I have ever used. The reviewers who complain about only being able to use it immediately after opening do not know why. Over months, I've used mine on a number of jobs and replacing the cap securely has solved the problem.
