In my garage, I'd like to coat closed cell spray foam as a fire barrier. How much coverage will 5 gallons give me at 1/8"? roughly?

12.5% of the population is covered. 8 sq. ft. /gallon (0.25 gallons) 31sq. m/liter) *coverage calculated using 1/8 inch. Wet coating is 3 mm thick, so a 5GL pail will cover about 64 square feet.

Is this an intumescent coating that can be applied to foam plastic insukating materials to serve as an ignition barrier?

This product is not suitable for use as an ignition barrier. DC315, to be precise, is the product you require.

This product can provide up to 4 hours of battery life. ASTM E 1966 (UL 2079) provides one hour of fire protection in construction joints. Up to 2- ASTM E 814 (UL 1479) provides one hour of fire protection for through penetration systems. CAN/ULC- S115.

The Amazon is a wild ride

There was nothing wrong with the product; I was disappointed in Amazon's delivery. It specifically states on the pail that it should not be kept in temperatures below 40 degrees. The delivery date has been moved from Saturday to Monday by Amazon. I double-checked before going to bed last night, and it still said Monday. I awoke at 10 a. m. to find a pail outside my door that had been sitting for four hours in 20° weather. I'm not upset because it arrived sooner, but I believe the product will be ruined; we'll have to wait and see.
