According to ASTM E 814 (UL 1479) and CAN/ULC S115, the firestop is tested and rated for up to 2 hours.

During installation, the sag-resistant, quick-curing formulation expands up to 5 times its original volume.

When intumescent foam is exposed to fire, it expands.

After installation, reenterable and repairable foam stays pliable.

In wall or floor applications, it has excellent adhesion and doesn't need any backing material.

Is this foam going to require a special dispenser? Is it possible to use a regular caulking gun?

A unique dispenser is required. It won't work with a regular caulking gun.

Is it possible to use a regular caulking gun to apply this?

No, you'll need a special dispensing gun for that.

Is this something that can withstand the heat? I'd like to install the rocker panels from my Corvette. to make up for the voids?

Yes, there is a fire rating that can be found on the tube or on the SDS, but I believe it is 2 hours.

It's pricey, but the labor savings make it worthwhile

For over a year, I've been employing this foaming fire barrier on commercial construction sites. It's an excellent product. br>The foaming action makes sealing around conduits and pipes a breeze, filling gaps better than standard caulk-type firestops. This is without a doubt the best product I've ever used for sealing around a bundle of cables, such as data wires. It is more expensive than caulk-type firestops, but the labor savings make up for it.

The product is good, but the price is too high

For the price, the foam doesn't go very far; however, 3M products rarely let you down, so they need to lower the price. Abesco makes a similar product that is less expensive and lasts longer. Despite my admiration for the product, it will not be able to replace its rival. My rating is based on how long a tube lasts and how much it costs; the other issue is that after three uses, the tube is no longer usable. The battery dispenser is bulky, and four tubes of the manual dispenser will hurt your hand.

It didn't come with the nozzle shown in the photo. Instead, I got a hand pump for soap. Thank you, but this was not of assistance. We're screwed for the inspection because it took so long to ship.

There is no nozzle included! To use the product, you must have the nozzle; I haven't tried it yet because I'm waiting for the nozzles to arrive. I'll keep you updated if there are any negative outcomes.

In my opinion, the number one. 3 is more like it: The mixing tip, which is required to complete this project, is not included in the package. I ended up having to purchase a case of tips on its own, which was far more than I needed. Aside from that, the product is fantastic.
