We sometimes need a smaller piece or just a strip of sandpaper when sanding smaller objects. We could always cut one of our expensive 9" x 11" sheets and hope that we didn't lose too much information.

Alternatively, you can reach for the appropriate grit inside the box dispenser and tear off the exact amount you need for your project; each grit roll is 1" wide and flexible enough to be used on almost any shape. These abrasive strips are especially effective on rounded objects like turned pens, bottle stoppers, and other small turnings.

They can also be cut to any length and work with almost any type of material.

Stepping your abrasives from low to high grit is a necessary step in properly finishing your pens, pencils, bottle stoppers, or any other wood project.

Each roll is made with J-weight cloth-backed sandpaper, which is difficult to come by. 150x, 240x, 320x, and 400x magnifications are all available. Each roll has a 1-1/2" diameter opening in the center.

Hello, These have performed admirably with the metals I've encountered (mild steel and aluminum). These have primarily been used to shape knife handles and grips. Though I'm sure they'd work just as well with higher carbon steel.

Is it possible to use this product in the rain?

I'm not sure if it can, but I've used it on projects with oil finishes to sand them down. For me, it appears to be functional.

What type of grit do you use?

There are four or five different rolls/grits to choose from. br>I don't have it in front of me, but the coarse ones are fairly coarse, and the finer ones are fairly fine.br>I bought the set to clean/polish steel shafts/crankshafts on lawn mowers, axle shafts, etc.br>Very good set.

When I use this abrasive, I typically tear off about 1 foot sections as I go from low to high grit, just like any normal person would

When my 600 started to drop, I thought it was a little early, but I didn't think much of it. After my 150 was depleted, I looked into it further. I have about 8 feet of the 240, 320, and nearly 12 feet of the 400 left. I'm well aware that the lengths I use will vary, but they couldn't have been this different. How about 20 feet of 1 inch sections? No, I do not believe that is true. In any case, not mine. I'd like a refund of my funds.

I haven't used much of the product yet, but what I have used so far appears to be of good quality and lasts a reasonable amount of time. br>br>The metal holder has many semi-finished edges. There are some sharp edges that should be filed away. The cardboard shaft (similar to a toilet paper tube) on which the rolls of emery paper are mounted is really cheap crap, but it should last if handled carefully. br>br>A nice feature is that the metal holder has a piece that acts as a cut off blade. It appears to work reasonably well.

Quality assurance is lacking

So, this is insane. The sandcloth backing is a strong, fiberlike material, but the box needs to be fixed before it can be used. br>br>On the box, the cutter blade is in reverse. It will not cut, no matter how hard you pull. I had to remove the rivets, rotate the blade, and re-rivet it. It's now working fine. What a hassle. br>br>It's just too much trouble. I will not purchase it in the future.

A wide range of grits are available to quickly achieve a smooth basic finish on any type of wood. a handy tear-off sheet strip dispenser that is turned off The sandpaper strips themselves are of good quality, slow to clog with even fine woods, and last a long time when used properly on a wood turning project. As with any good sandpaper, it's important to match your work with the right lathe speed, and let the sandpaper do the work using proper (coarser to finer grits) technique rather than trying to force the smoothing process. These progressively finer grits also work best when the previous sanding grit is completely removed before moving on to the next finest; this prevents you from gouging the wood with a scratch that the finer grade of grit won't remove.

When I'm turning wood, I go through a lot of sandpaper rolls. This metal rack is straightforward, sturdy, and simple to install. It's right above my late and I really like how simple it is to use. The grit sizes are etched into the metal, making strip tearing a breeze. I strongly advise you to do so.

The box appears to be in good working order

The box appears to be in good working order. The sandpaper appears to be in good condition; however, in order to feed the sandpaper through the holes in the box, they had to be cut open. Instead of using their flimsy cutting bar, I'm going to cut the sandpaper to length with scissors. I'm considering purchasing a metal holder for my sandpaper rolls.

It's convenient Perhaps adding longer sandpaper rolls would give you more bang for your buck - However, in terms of convenience, it is unrivaled! Having a small supply of sandpaper on my workbench - well-organized confinement - is extremely beneficial
