One inch
This is a nice, wide, and well-built wheel. So it could spin freely on my bench grinder, I had to remove the outside end guard/shield.
It includes a push-in spacer that fits into the hole and adapts to the 1/2" shaft. There is no need for a spacer if your shaft is 5/8".

This wheel is exactly the size it claims to be. You'll have more width to contend with because the bristles of a wire brush expand slightly outwards rather than completely vertically. My grinder has an outside diameter of roughly 1 3/8"; before purchasing, make sure your grinder has enough room; I was too lazy to get up and check before ordering. This item appears to be a little too wide for Harbor Freight's 6" Central Machinery Grinder. Enough to bring the engine to a complete stop. It's entirely my fault; I should have taken the measurements myself. br>br>Aside from that, the wheel appears to be reasonably well made, with no loose bristles or other issues. The large width of this wheel drew my attention, and I reasoned that it would be ideal for rust removal. If it fits your grinder, I'm guessing it'll be perfect for the job. The mounting hole is designed to fit a 5/8" arbor, but plastic spacers are included to adapt it to a 1/2" arbor. With no experience with the wheel, it's difficult to say much, but it appears to work fine if you have the space. Just double-check.
If you use your bench grinder for a lot of wire wheel work, this wheel is a must-have. Prior to this, I was using a standard wire wheel. It was about 1/2-inch thick, I believe. This wheel is one inch in diameter. It's a lot more effective. Some people had trouble fitting it on their bench grinder because of its thickness. Fitment was not an issue because I had already removed the protective covers. In addition, instead of the cupped washers commonly used with thinner wheels, some large flat washers were required. The cupped washers didn't leave enough room for the nut to fit on the shaft. There was enough room for the nut after they were replaced with washers. br>br>As I previously stated, this wheel is far superior to the standard bench grinder wire wheels. It is something I strongly suggest.
in order to complete the job that was due yesterday. Lincoln wire brushes appear to be extremely consistent, durable, and long-lasting, and they perform admirably! I've used "cheap" rotary wire brushes before, and they leave my work area covered in thousands of tiny little wires that hurt.
It appears that this wire wheel splays out more on the edges than other wire wheels. It's a good price, and it works well with my bench grinder.
This wheel is a little too wide for my grinder, but it's still a good wheel.
I prefer a stiffer wire brush, and this one is ideal; it does exactly what it says on the tin and does so quickly.
I believe it will serve me well for a long time.
It hasn't been long enough for me to see how well it holds up.
