Questions & Answers

When it comes to the 15511, what is the maximum speed? thanks?

3600 RPM br>3600 RPM br>3600 RPM br>3600 RPM

What is the highest RPM this wheel can reach?

I don't recall the exact number, but before installing it on my bench grinder, I double-checked to make sure it was greater than 3600. It was, and it continues to work flawlessly.

Is it possible to use this to sharpen the blade of a circular saw?

No, you'll need a diamond wheel if the circular saw blade has a carbide tip. Also, circular saw blades are inexpensive enough that resharpening them isn't even worth the effort. The angles at which they are sharpened are extremely precise.

Is it possible to apply this to metal?

Silicone Carbide wheels are used to sharpen Brazed Carbide Tools (which is what I do with them), not for general steel use as stated in the product description, and they are a relatively "Soft" stone. I hope this has been of assistance to you.

It's not silicon carbide, as advertised, and you shouldn't even try it
3/5

According to what I've seen, this isn't a Silicon Carbide wheel. I hadn't finished sharpening one dull carbide blade, and I was covered in dust, with a nearly 1/2" deep groove in the wheel. The carbide on the tool was not even scratched, as far as I could tell. The eco-friendly My hand grinder's wheel wore out only a few of the machine's 32 cutting blades. Other Silicon Carbide wheels can be used to sharpen carbide tools if needed. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I put in a real Silicon Carbide 'Green Wheel' to the left of the Powertec and a regular grinding stone and took a photo with it. The POWERTEC stone is clearly closer to a regular grinding stone, as can be seen. DO NOT BUY, even as a regular stone, because it claims to contain silicone carbide; you'd be a fool to use it without respiratory protection, and it performs no better than a regular stone wheel.

The wobble is extremely bad
3/5

Regrettably, I disregarded the product's reviews and purchased one regardless. My bad. The grinding wheel appears to be of good quality and arrived in good working order - There are no nicks or dings on this item. In terms of being round, it appears to be "true. " However, it wobbles horribly. The wheel is spinning down in the attached video (the noise is coming from the other spindle's wire wheel). br>br>My fear is that the grinding wheel will literally self-destruct. During use, it will self-destruct. So, I'm torn between returning it and keeping it as a sharpening stone. br>br>Meanwhile, I'd like to make the following suggestion: Other possibilities should be explored.

Is it possible that you were simply fortunate? First and foremost, anyone who claims that these quickly wear out when sharpening carbide is completely wrong
5/5

Because all carbides are hard, diamond should be used to sharpen them rather than other carbides. br>br>Perhaps there is a lack of quality control on these wheels? People frequently express their dissatisfaction with their lack of equilibrium. The one I got was so well balanced that I was able to use the bench grinder without having to attach it to the bench! Not that anyone would do such a thing. In comparison to my previous wheel, this one is far superior. br>br>Up to this point, I've only used it on mild steel. However, I've done a lot of grinding and haven't noticed any wheel dust, and it eats mild steel like a champ. br>br>How are the complaints to be interpreted? Isn't it true that caveat emptor means "let the buyer be I really like the one I got! Is it possible that I just happened to be in the right place at the right time?.

I am not pleased
3/5

I'm not sure if grit specifications differ in China, but despite the fact that my label says "60 grit," I received something closer to 400 grit. If you buy this brand, get a grit that is much coarser than you think you'll need. br>br>The wheel I got was twisted. It wasn't enough to make my machine vibrate, but it was definitely wobbly visually. br>br>The label is far too large and is permanently glued to both sides of the wheel (it cannot be removed). On the side of the wheel, there isn't enough space to grind larger items. br>br>It's so cheap that the return isn't worth it.

1/4 cold rolled plate edge will not be removed
3/5

As if he were a lathe, he spews wheel grit off! I was astounded by how badly this wheel performs. br>br>I was astounded by how absolutely terrible this wheel performs. I own a small machine shop, and I can't recall the last time I changed the wheel on my grinder. Years. After cutting a 1/4 inch flat cold rolled plate with a bandsaw, I attempted to knock the sharp edge off. It spits grit in your face and shaves the wheel down almost immediately. This was soft steel, by the way. What were they thinking when they designed it? Plastics? I'm going to get another one from a welding supply store and throw this one away. I've already used it!.

The material is extremely soft
3/5

Wow. This is not the grinding wheel to purchase if you want it to last a long time; my previous one lasted several years. This one lasted a year and a half. It's made of a soft material. Is it a grinder? Yes. Is it prone to deterioration? I'm not impressed at all. I would not purchase this item again.

It's as if I've resurrected a brand-new grinder
5/5

I only have one word for you: Fantastic. I bought a grinder wheel and a wire wheel from Sears a while back, but I haven't been able to use it much because those wheels with the knockouts for different shaft sizes are terrible. I tried to balance them, but the cheap plastic arbors caused so much vibration that I was afraid the wheels would fall apart, so I went to Amazon and found these Powertec wheels with the proper 1/2" arbor. I'm very pleased with these; there is no vibration, and they grind perfectly; it's almost as if I have a new machine again, as I've had this one for a long time and needed new wheels. I will only buy these wheels in the future, and I plan to buy some more as backups in the future if I can't find these when I need them. I'll never buy any of the high-priced junk that costs more than these. These are the only options if your shaft is 1/2".

Change up your routine
3/5

To begin with, the labels are partially glued on, and the glue and paper are difficult to remove. br>I prefer my wheels to be spotless and free of distractions. Second, the arbor size isn't accurate, and there are a bunch of plastic sleeves stacked inside, presumably because it's a one-size-fits-all type of thing. Third, I prefer round wheels when I buy wheels of any kind, and this one isn't. br>br>I've already used it, and it's not worth the trouble of returning it, so I'll just live with it for now, but I'll try something a little more expensive in the future.
