It will, of course. That's how I've got mine set up. Isn't it fantastic?
Only high-speed steel should be used with these wheels, I believe. I only use high-strength steel tools, and they're fantastic. I would suggest rough shaping the tools with 80 grit wheels and resharpening with 180 grit wheels.
I purchased the 80 grit, which is adequate for reshaping some tools. Overall, I believe that a 120 grit would be preferable because the tool's surface would be smoother, resulting in a smoother cut on the wood.

While this is by far the simplest method I've found for converting a 6" bench grinder to diamond or CBN wheels, I'm disappointed with the abrasive's performance. It's a very thin layer of CBN, and despite the fact that it hasn't worn away, I can't tell the difference between the 80 and 180 grit wheels any longer. I've used the 80 grit a lot more than the 60 grit, but I've only had them for a month and have only used them on weekends. I'd recommend getting a 60 grit silicon carbide wheel for the course work and one of these for the finishing touches. Now I'm considering making adapters for real Tool. Wheels for cutter grinders. The flat side surface will also be much more usable as a result of this.
Because I primarily work with wood, my tools have a razor-sharp edge. I'll buy the 180 grit wheel as soon as I can, but as a disabled veteran on a fixed income, that won't be for a while, unless the company wants to donate one to a veteran, which I would gladly accept! This is, without a doubt, the best grinding wheel I've ever used.
I bought two of the wheels, one with a 180 grit and the other with an 80 grit. The vibration on this 80 grit wheel is noticeable, and it does not appear to be balanced. It does, however, live up to the claims made about how sharp CBN wheels are. I was going to replace it, but I found the last 80 grit wheel on Amazon and decided to live with the vibration, which is significantly less than that of a conventional wheel.
Sharpens to a razor-sharp edge.
excellent.
This is a fantastic wheel! I can quickly spruce up my turning tools. When I grind, I just have to get used to the ringing sound and the lack of sparks.
Grind wheel that is extremely precise. Sharpening is a lot of fun.
