It's not clear to me. No one will ever be able to reassemble it. It ended up being more convenient to put the parts in baggies and bring them to the I could not be happier with the purchase!
The hose does not come with instructions There is a decent video on YouTube that will show you how to disassemble, but it won't show you how to reverse it.

It has broken again at exactly 10 months! Update February 2018 It has broken again after exactly 10 months! There is no red area on the rim this time, but it is broken on both ends. At the moment, my husband and I are debating whether to replace the camera or repair it. If it were a brand new vacuum, then I would have to spend several hundred dollars on it, however he will have to spend some time replacing the part every 10 months. The next time he has to repair this part, it will be the third time he does so. I doubt these are OEM replacement parts. Either that or dyson just has terrible This review has been done previously. I have now used up our second replacement part. Amazon shows me that I ordered this part 10 months ago but it already failed again this month. My DC65 broke in the hose tube after about one year of use due to the original part. A screw broke off on the red part of the replacement part, in the area where the red part snaps. After this, Huby says that he will never repair it again due to the way it works. A picture of the part that is broken is attached. During that time, I spent 10 months on the project.
But you can't just replace the red cap because it's glued to the hose by the manufacturer (hey This was my first time working on a vacuum, and it took me about an hour to tear it down, replace it, and reassemble it (and a toddler kept trying to "assist" me during the process). In this case, there are no instructions that come with the replacement part, but thanks to the interwebs, there are some decent (ok, they're terrible, but what do you want for free) videos that show you how to do it. To use it, here is what I did I will be there for you. This part only had one job, but since the vacuum works like a champ again, I am giving this a 5 star rating.
As I was wondering why the suction was diminishing, I discovered that there were 4 separate holes in the old piece. I decided to give this part a try rather than use another animal that would have been more than four years old. My dog probably had a history of being used daily due to german shepherd. I took it apart after watching a U tube video, kept the parts sequence in order, then replaced it. There are a few non-standard tools needed to remove all the screws, and Approximately 90 minutes were spent on the project. Be sure the main cog and the ball are positioned correctly before reassembly or you will not be able to line it It works fine, and the suction has increased 100 percent.
It's a genuine Dyson part. It's in excellent condition. There is no easy way to install this program. To be successful in this field, you need some form of mechanical knowledge. The parts are small and move a lot. In 20 minutes, the installation is complete.
I can't believe how difficult it is to install this thing. It took me an hour to do this thing since I am a mechanical engineer with a PhD and pretty mechanically inclined One hour is required for installation. On YouTube, I found a video that showed how to break down the vacuum ball, but not how to put it back together again. It would be amazing if the product came with an instructional video that matches this.
This is a great Dyson product. As soon as it was installed, the vacuum was restored to its original condition. The YouTube video I watched made it easy to install, so I gave it five stars. There should be three simple tools and it shouldn't take more than 45 minutes to fix.
Exactly what I needed! We had to watch a YouTube video to figure out how to replace the part because it did not come with instructions.
