This rack has been hanging on my wall since May 2014, and I purchased the additional four hooks, so I now have a total of eight (copper) pans and pots of various sizes hanging on it, with four more on top of the rack. Still very sturdy, but I was fortunate in that I was able to locate the studs with which to attach it.
The shelf is 36" wide, and the mounting brackets can be placed almost anywhere within that space. However, on both ends of the shelf, there is a thin metal rod that runs lengthwise to hold all of the panels together; these rods are 1 inch in on both sides, so the total space available for the mounting brackets is just under 34". Hopefully, that information will assist you in determining whether or not you can mount it around that window as you desire, but I suspect it will not fit well.
The supports can be attached to the wooden slats in any location. They're 36 inches wide, with the longest pan hanging 22 inches from my rack's wood. This rack gets a lot of positive feedback. Now that I have more cabinet space, I'm really enjoying it. I'm not sure if you'll be able to see out the window once you've hung all your pans/pots. Even more so if the handles are long. Something to think about if you're looking for a new job.
Yes, it's possible to cut it down to size. To get the length you want, you'll have to cut both ends. Then, in each of the six wooden strips, drill a matching hole. If you think you'll be able to handle it, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this shelf. Mine is one of my favorites.

I must say, this is stunning. It has a nice appearance and is well-constructed. I couldn't come up with a better design. It contains everything I needed and more. My cast iron pans are extremely heavy, starting with the 12 inch Lodge on the left of the picture, and it holds them firmly when mounted in the studs, as you can see in my photos. I just absolutely love this Pot rack. I don't have to rummage through my pans to find the one I need any longer. They're all ready to go now. At the same time, it's very functional and appealing to the eye. As you can see, I ended up purchasing four additional hooks in order to hang more of my pans. This review was something I couldn't wait to write. It's also simple to put together, taking only a few minutes. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Please give me a thumbs up if this was helpful to you. I appreciate your taking the time to read this.
The image of the product is deceptive. It depicts a fully assembled product with six hooks. The rotational ability of all six hooks is shown. The item actually has two rotating hooks and four non-rotating hooks. hooks that rotate You'll need four more rotating hooks to complete the setup shown in the image. The main reason I'm taking away stars is because of this complaint. br>br>Aside from that flaw, it's a good, solid product that does what it's supposed to do with pots and pans. There are some flaws in the metal arms. They have a seam that scratched the wood shelf when they were installed. Of course, the scratch is completely hidden, so it's not a major issue unless you intend to change the arm spacing. The seam on the visible portions of the arms was generally ground off, but it's not perfect; however, it looks fine from a distance. br>br>The installation instructions weren't very well-written. Written instructions aren't required, but it was simple enough to install without them.
I'd had enough of bending down and pulling out a slew of pans just to get the one I wanted, then putting them all back. In addition, I have ceramic pans that require a barrier. so that the ceramic is not harmed in the process As a result, I can avoid the need for that as well as the hassle by hanging them. Having the ability to hang them to dry is also beneficial. They can't be dripping, but if there are any remaining water droplets, simply hang it up. This is a very well-made shelf/hanger; all of the components appear to be of good quality and fit together well. I love how it looks and how functional it is in my kitchen. I chose this over the one that hangs over your sink because I believe it is more visually appealing and equally functional. A pan chandelier over your sink appears to be obnoxious. br>br>I've included a photo of my pots and pans setup, as well as links to the other items I used in addition to the pots and pans rack. Four fixed hooks and two swivel hooks were included with the pot rack. Additional hooks are available for purchase on Amazon, but at $20 for a set of two, they are quite pricey. It's only a third of the cost of the entire unit for two additional hooks. I'd suggest making do with the six hooks that come with the kit. br>br>Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions! We were attempting to declutter our kitchen and decided to use this rack to hang our pots and pans. We decided to mount the rack above the window because our kitchen has a high vaulted ceiling and very little free wall space (see photos). This made it quite high, and while I could have probably figured out a way to mount it lower, I wanted to use the rack's hanging brackets. br>br>By combining the rotating hooks with Cooks Standard wire hooks, we were able to solve this problem. Although the hooks (extensions) were not designed for that purpose, the rotating cast hooks are slightly tapered toward the end of the hook, allowing the hook to be added without having to bend it. (The extension hooks' bends are at a 45-degree angle to one another. ) ) We liked how the hooks rotated naturally to turn the pans slightly. br>br>Also, we wanted to put a few knick-knacks on the hooks. I wanted to raise the knickknacks on the rack a bit so they could be seen better, so I bought a small piece of 1" X 3" X 36" yellow pine from Lowe's (actual dimension 3/4" X 2-1/2"). 1/2" thick) and cut it to a length of about 28" It almost perfectly matched the existing rack after I applied a clear satin urethane finish to it. br>br>Notes on how to install: The hanging brackets can be placed anywhere along the shelf's length, which is important because it's preferable to screw the brackets directly into the wall studs if possible. Our brackets are closer to the center of the rack than the ones in the product image, as you can see in the images below. You won't find studs spaced to fit in that configuration, so the product image is deceiving. Using a cordless driver, screw through the drywall and into the stud with the pan head screws that come with the rack. If you absolutely must use a hollow wall anchor, I recommend a toggle bolt (link below) over plastic expanding anchors. br>br>We also added lid racks, which worked out much better than we had anticipated.
