As I am a DIY kind of guy, I don't have any trouble assembling it. In order to understand instructions, it is important to closely observe the pictures. The product is very good and durable, the wife is really happy with it. Here are two points to consider In the first place, the box weighs an awful lot. Shipped in a damaged box with a ripped box that UPS taped shut. You or UPS have to handle a box that weighs 70 pounds, right? A second point If you're going to open the box in the garage, it's probably because the packing is low density Styrofoam and it crumbles and sticks to everything. Using a cloth or paper towel does not work with Styrofoam. Instead, I used a portable vacuum to pull it out. Two of the parts in my order were damaged in transit (smashed). It was suggested in the KidKraft instructions to contact customer service if you encountered ANY problem. I took pictures of the box and smashed parts, sent them to customer service and included the pictures. Our Customer Service department sent replacement parts the next day, no charge, immediately after receiving our inquiry. It is 4 stars for the product, 5 stars for the customer service, and 1 star for packing / shipping weight. An average of 3 stars is given. This product will be enjoyable to use if you are able to tolerate the weight and get past the foam.
Apparently, two pieces in my set were labeled incorrectly, but it didn't take most of us more than two minutes to figure out which one belonged to which. As a single person, I put the unit together in about two hours. Kidcraft has a couple of other simpler items, and this is at the simpler end of the spectrum. I replaced two cabinets that took up a lot more space in my child's room with this unit, and it looks great. This allowed me to put things on his level that I'd kept up high so he can get little things on his own instead of asking us to get them for him. There was only one problem I had with assembly - I am used to some directions making it obvious which way the varnished side should face so you just have to pay attention to them. My husband and I have been so happy with the build quality so far and he said that it was the easiest piece of furniture he's had to assemble to date. This box is very sturdy, and the plastic bins are perfect for storing toys. On the bottom, there are wooden boxes that I like, too! The product was delivered on time and in good condition. Originally, I was concerned about the damage reported in other reviews. The full assembly process took about 15 minutes to complete, but it looks great now that it is completed. The only problem is that I just unpacked it yesterday to assemble it, and there are two damaged pieces. I might be able to glue one because it is too much for me to unpack and then repack.
