I had to replace a broken watering system that worked on the same principle as this one. Because of the primer pump, which has always been a problem, this works much better. The instructions were clear, and after a few pumps, it was primed and ready to use. The gift bag isn't absolutely necessary, but it's a nice touch, and having multiple replacement jugs is the way to go because pouring into the jug while it's in the bag is a disaster. It's important to note that the bottom of the jug and the bottom of the watering stand should be at the same level. I would have given it five stars, but I thought it was a little overpriced for what was probably $2-$3. I understand there was research and unique parts included in the $3 dollar parts, but I'm not sure if that's true. This is a very simple concept that works extremely well.
I wanted to wait until the end of the season to give this product a rating because I was looking for something to help me water my tree more efficiently. Crawling under the tree, untying the tree skirt, spilling water, remembering to water, etc. are all such a pain! I know, problems of the first world, right? This siphon worked perfectly! Even if I forgot to check for a few days, my tree remained healthy and never fell below a certain level: Keep in mind that the gallon jug will never be completely empty. It will eventually level out to the same level as the reservoir of water. This isn't a flaw; it's just the way a siphon operates! It's a bit pricey, but it'll pay off in the long run!.
While we were away for two weeks before Christmas, our watering system failed. When we got home, half the gallon of water was empty, so it worked for a while, but then stopped working for no apparent reason, and our tree was bone dry, barely surviving until Christmas morning. I don't think we did anything wrong because it seemed to work for a while, but by Christmas, our tree was barely hanging on to its needles and was sagging and dropping ornaments because it had dried out during our 6 days away. It appeared to be quite depressed.
Great Christmas present for my father-in-law, who is getting older and injuring his back and knees every year while watering the Christmas tree. He was ecstatic!.
My wife even said the tree was much more fragrant this year because I kept it well-watered. That, I believe, was due to the fact that it didn't dry out as a result of the system's constant watering. Everything you need is included, with the exception of a gallon jug, which is fine because it was previously used as an empty milk container. This is an excellent item.
It performs admirably. I used it for a week while I was away, and the tree looked better than when we had been watering it by hand. The bag is a little too small, but that's nothing a trip to the dollar store can't fix. It also arrived very quickly.
It's ideal for watering the tree without having to crawl under it every day! It was used in the church to keep the Christmas tree in excellent condition throughout the season.
This was a fantastic idea. I kept my tree submerged in water and disguised it as a present.
