Questions & Answers
Yes, it's hollow on the inside. Mine is installed on a brick fireplace and looks fantastic.
It has a dark appearance. Coffee that is very dark and black.
This was purchased last year for use in the new construction of our home. Although I did not order it stained, I believe it was available in both stained and white finishes in some cases. Our hardwood floor installer stained it to match the color of our existing floors. He applied three coats of paint. It's absolutely stunning. We didn't use the pieces underneath, instead opting for a free-floating look. It was an excellent value for the money. Even our builder thought it looked great, and I was able to find mantles for up to three times this price. If you'd like, I can send you a photo of the final product. Judy
Selected User Reviews For Pearl Mantels 497-60-10 Celeste Mantel Shelf, 60-Inch, Dune Finish
My fireplace is in such a state of disarray. I've been looking for a year and a half. I had no idea what to get or how to attach it to the brick. I looked for someone else to do it but couldn't find anyone. I came across Pearl Mantels after that. I'm sure I'd have gotten a longer one if I'd asked for it. a slightly darker color, but the price on this size was simply too good to pass up. I couldn't say no to the color. On the day it arrived, I was giddy. It was up and running in about two hours. I'm 43 years old and the mother of three children. Even though I'm capable of a lot, this surprised me. My husband isn't a handyman, but he was away on business and couldn't assist. I hung it on my own. It was ridiculously simple. You must take two measurements. They say you can only drill once, but I believe anyone can do it.
I understand that the location of the drill holes will vary depending on the situation, but what about the hardware? That's a complete load of nonsense. I was able to mount it quickly and easily, but the mounting board split when the first screw was tightened. Yes, I had planned ahead of time. I drilled the holes, but because I was a novice, I screwed them in too tight, causing it to split. I was able to work around it, but keep in mind that this is something to keep in mind. Aside from that, it's a lovely and well-designed piece. I'm very pleased with the 3-D printed product, and I'm especially pleased with the 3-D printed product. My fireplace got a makeover for the day!.
I ordered this product with plenty of lead time because it's large and bulky and doesn't ship prime, and it arrived in good condition. However, there were numerous issues during installation. We decided against using corbels. The clear was warped and unstable when it arrived. As we were attempting to secure the mantle, it fell off and struck me in the head. The wood cracked (pilot holes and all) and split when it was installed by a carpenter with a safer system. I emailed the seller but received no response.
We spent more than we had planned. We were able to install this mantel ourselves, which was a fantastic alternative. Yes, it appears to be a working model. a line was created I wish they would just remove the "distressing," which only appears in a couple of places and resembles scratches. The "inlayed authentic pearl" is also silly; it's just a white circle (not a pearl) that appears to be a flaw in the dark espresso wood. Having said that, we are still pleased with our purchase. We used a standard hand held drill and a concrete drill bit to install it despite the fact that the stones were uneven and large. Then we had to chisel away at some of the protruding stones to get the mantel to sit flush with the wall. It took a couple of hours, but we got it done! Love it.
I went with my wife's advice and purchased it in antique cherry finish. br>I'm so glad I paid attention to her. Fit and finish are flawless, corbels are well-designed and constructed with high-quality hardware, and delivery was prompt and expertly packaged to protect the mantle and finish. Yes, the distressing is artificial, but so what? Prior to installing cultured stone, I pre-hung my mantle ledger. I couldn't (and didn't want) to use the hanging strip and miter board that came with it. I removed the miterstrip and counter-bored new holes, which I then screwed down from the top to create a very secure anchor. If you're going to install stone, I strongly advise pre-mounting the mantle. I can't see how this, or any other mantle, could be attached to an uneven stone face. My installation turned out beautifully, and I can't say enough good things about the product and the customer service I received when I called (and actually got a person on the line) and they were extremely helpful in answering my questions about removing the assembled miter strip and deleting the hanging strip. My wife disliked the pearl inlay, so I covered it with furniture crayon. Take note of the following: I attempted to attach a photo three times and had to rewrite this review three times. I misplaced my text message and am unable to recover it.
Despite the fact that this is marketed as a mantel, I live in an old house with high ceilings, and it makes for a very nice looking shelf. br>br>When mine arrived without screws, I contacted the company, and they sent them to me within two days. In today's world, service is everything, so I consider this a positive in a review. br>br>The unit is "over built," a piece of high-quality furniture that is very sturdy and well-thought out. There are three "Look" options, but the full option, which includes everything, also strengthens the shelf vertically (no sag under heavy weight to the front) with the corbels and back arch between them. It's nice to have options. br>br>If you need a mantel, it's a very nice and simple solution; if you need an expensive shelf to display some heavy items, it's a very nice and easy solution. This is ideal; mine will house an antique clock from the 1800s, and I have complete faith in this shelf to keep it safe. br>br>I like the company's liability approach to hanging this unit; it's simple and smart. As for the mounting plate that comes with it, you're on your own (Drilll, svcrews, mounting method); there's a reason for this; the shelf already weighs a lot, and if you don't hang it correctly, it could injure someone or damage your property. This should not deter you from purchasing it; simply be aware of your surroundings or seek assistance. br>br>If there's anything I'd change, it's the wood. The shelf is sturdy once it is installed on the mounting bracket, but if you ducked under it to move something and then came up and bumped it, the shelf is not attached to the backplate (this may be stated in the instructions, but I did not see it). Drill two small holes through the top of the mounted shelf and screw two screws through the shelf and into the mounting plate will be my solution.
