Yes, screws and anchors are included in the package.

Is this a solid object or one that is hollow?

Hollow. I had to cut it down to make it fit in a small space. It's simple to cut and put up. It appears to be excellent.

Is there a 2 by 4 included?

Everything you'll need to put it up is included. It was very simple to put together, and I was up and running in less than ten minutes.

br>I was able to repair the split in the side, but the product was not well packaged to protect it. br>Otherwise, this is an excellent contemporary mantel! It looks fantastic and is very simple to put together. br>I'd buy this product again. I'm hoping the supplier sees this regarding the packing issues.

We were looking for a shelf to put next to the TV on the wall. The TV was mounted on a large entertainment center. Because we don't have a large living room, mounting the TV on the wall and using this shelf has worked out perfectly!.

Only a couple of pictures were included in the instructions. It was simple to figure out, but there should have been some guidelines for how high the mantel should be placed over a fire source. It should have said what size drill bit to use with the inserts that came with it. Apart from that, everything is fine.
