Questions & Answers

What can a Millenial do for a start now that newspapers are no longer available?

Are you really trying to figure out how to light something that came in an Amazon box? You are not a member of the millenial generation!

I'm not sure how I'm going to put it to good use. ?

Fill the bottom with crumpled paper, then spray the bottom and top with spray cooking oil. Just a smidgeon Fill the top of the paper with charcoal, then lift the paper and light the bottom. Allow it to sit on the bottom grate (where you would normally place the charcoal). The oil aids in the initialization of the paper and causes it to burn hotter and more quickly. The oiled paper quickly circulates air and heat to the bottom layer of charcoal, causing it to quickly burn. As it heats up, you'll notice that it circulates air more quickly, creating a convection effect; after about ten minutes, you'll have a jet engine and the coals are ready to cook. Dump the coals out and place the chimney starter on a fireproof item like a cinder block or concrete with a very heavy oven mitt (a welder's glove will also work). br>Once you've mastered that, watch some videos of actual cooking ON or UNDER the starter once it's been heated. Start the coals on top of the upper grill, where the food normally goes, if you're only cooking one steak. When it's hot, shake it a little to get rid of the ash, then lift it and place your steak underneath it, between the grill grate and the starter's bottom. Lift and flip the steak after 90 seconds and cook for another 90 seconds. After the coals are lit, place a small grate on top of the starter and cook a chunk of Ahi tuna for about a minute per side. You'll get a nice crust and it'll be rare in the middle.

Is it necessary to use lighter fluid with this starter? Or do you not require lighter fluid?

It is not necessary to use lighter fluid. Simply crumple two pieces of newspaper and follow the directions on the label. When I first tried it, I was skeptical, but the coals were red hot in less than 15 minutes. Pour the mixture into the grill, then top it off with more coals as needed, and you'll have plenty of heat in no time.

So, why is there a "U" shaped part that can move up and down over the handle? I'm not sure what it is or why it's there. ?

It allows you to pour hot coals into your grill with both hands. One hand on the main handle, the other on the u-shaped handle handle with a unique shape My husband finds it extremely useful, but it is very easy to remove if you decide you no longer require it.

Let's get this party started, baby; this is my second large Weber starter
5/5

It performs as expected. My first one had a ten-year lifespan. The extra handle, which allows for two-handed operation, is particularly appealing. pouring with one hand I looked at a lot of different chimney starters and this one is, in my opinion, the best deal. Tips: br>For a quick fire, use kraft paper such as grocery bag pieces or parts of your charcoal bag, as well as starter cubes such as Katon Cubes. br>When emptying hot coals, be careful to get them all out of the chimney! Any chimney starter will fall into this category.

Weber is widely regarded as the most popular bbq brand available
5/5

Old me: br>Tell me if this sounds familiar: I make a pyramid out of a mountain of charcoal and a napkin. I then douse the top with lighter fluid. I set it aside for a few moments before lighting the napkin. After the first puff of smoke has passed, I use a large piece of cardboard to fan the pyramid until the top briquette catches fire, which takes about 20 minutes. I wait a few minutes for the top large pieces to burn to gray before flattening out the briquettes so I can put my grate on because not all of the briquettes are burned evenly when I flatten them out so I can put my grate on. New me: br>br> br>Lighter fluid is not available. For the next 20 minutes, there will be no fanning. The air is forced upwards by the chimney. I'm going to get some soda (I despise beer) and will return in 20 minutes. br>There are no issues with consistency. The coals are all the same gray color when I dump them. My weber's "spots" are all the same temperature. br>br>Conclusion: Weber is widely regarded as the best all-around bbq brand. They didn't let us down with the quality of their Chimney. You'll save money because you'll use far fewer briquettes to get a good fire, and you'll never need fluid again.

Perfect
5/5

I bought a cheapo grill from Walmart and couldn't get it to work with lighter fluid and charcoal the way I wanted it to. This baby arrived the other day, and for the first time, I was able to use my grill properly. br> It gets the coals piping hot all at once, and I made shish kebabs on it and could hear that searing sound when they hit the grill. I could feel the intense heat coming out even with the lid on and the vent closed. When I previously used lighter fluid to light the charcoals on a charcoal pyramid, the heat was weak and uneven, and the fire seemed to die out after about 20 minutes. Half an hour later, I was pleasantly surprised to feel the same blazing heat emanating from the coals. There's. NOTES: This chimney is large enough to hold a full size grill's worth of charcoal. br>Loosely stuff some newspaper in the bottom, fill the top with charcoal, and light the paper. Your coals will be ready to use in less than 10 minutes.

For Charcoal Grilling, this is a must-have item
5/5

I'm embarrassed to admit that after purchasing this, I used lighter fluid. I've been grilling for years and had no idea about this simple device until recently, and I'm sorry I didn't discover it sooner. It's very easy to use! br>br> Fill the cylinder with charcoal, stuff some newspaper in the bottom from underneath, light the newspaper, and wait 10 minutes or so before dumping it into your grill. To avoid damaging my concrete driveway, I light mine inside my grill on top of the charcoal grate, then dump it right into the grill. This is far more convenient for me than using lighter fluid or stacking my charcoal the way my father taught me. br>br>This is without a doubt my favorite grilling tool.

Simply the most effective method for lighting a charcoal fire
5/5

There is no better way to start a charcoal fire for grilling than with this method. br>br>Cons:
- Not particularly transportablebr>- When it's ready, it'll be hot to handle. br>br>Pros: br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> Despite the warnings on the can, I would always use it on a lit pile of charcoal because it was entertaining and I thought it was useful in some way. Those are no longer the days. br>br> The following is how the charcoal chimney functions: 1. br>br> Invert the situationbr>2. Fold the newspaper in half and tuck it into the bottom of the box. br>3. 4. Turn right side up. br> br>5. Fill 3/4 of the way with charcoal (hardwood briquettes)br> br>6. Turn on the light. Open a bottle of beer, relax, and wait 15 minutesbr>7. Let the grilling begin by pouring out the red-hot coals. br>br>At least until they come up with a better idiot, this thing comes close to being the gold standard of idiot proof. It's incredibly easy to use, and you won't have to put up with the smell of too much lighter fluid on you or your food anymore. br>br>My only complaint is that when it's time to tip the hot coals out, the handle gets a little hot from the radiant heat of the coals, and pouring out red hot coals is always a challenge. If you use a charcoal grill, which you should because it's fantastic, you owe it to yourself to use a charcoal chimney to get it going quickly, efficiently, and safely. br>br>I've had the same one for four years, and there's not much that can go wrong with it, so I'm hoping to pass it down to my children as a treasured family heirloom.
