This type of fire log smells more chemical than others I've used and burns nicely, but it doesn't smell like a wood fire
3/5

It's possible that's what they're using to turn it gold. When I burn them, my daughter complains that they smell like smoke with a hint of chemical, rather than a wood fire. They are, however, very simple to light and keep lit. Burns for a long time; be careful to place them exactly where you want them; I tried to move one over while it was burning, and it broke apart, spilling hot burning material all over my hearth. Because it was on brick, no damage was done, but if my house had carpet near the fireplace, it could have easily caused a serious fire.

It's difficult to get them going
5/5

These aren't going to warm up your living room or your bedroom. It takes approximately an hour for them to fully ignite. They always burn out the paper they're wrapped in before the logs can catch fire. I end up putting bundles of balled-up paper beneath the logs to get them to start burning. Also, don't expect the pleasant aroma of burning wood like I did. But it isn't wood, after all. I believe I will seek out real wood that burns easily and emits the pleasant aroma of burning firewood.

Is there a problem with the current batch? We've purchased these before, but this batch has been especially disappointing
3/5

We've had good results with these in the past, with the exception of the odd dud. We've had two so far. With our last order, we had 3 logs that disintegrated and died after about an hour. And there were a few that were hot for the first 45 minutes- I expected a little better burn for the price, but it only lasted 1 hour and then gave me a lame burn for the rest of the time.

Excellent purchase
5/5

I ordered these fire logs because they were less expensive than what I could find in local stores. It was fantastic that they arrived so quickly. Immediately, I began to burn them in my firepit. They last at least three hours, if not longer. br>I'm having a good time with them. br>I would recommend these firelogs to anyone; I ordered them, they arrived quickly, and they are in excellent condition. br>I really like them and plan to order more in the future.

It's fantastic once it's lit
4/5

Good luck with the first part; once lit, these are incredible. They burn for about 3 hours and produce a good amount of heat, with nice, bright flames. br>However, be aware that simply lighting the two small marked areas with a lighter will not likely result in them being lit. If you go that route, the wrapper will burn a little and smoke a lot, and it might even burn all the way around, but it won't light the log itself on fire. br>Instead, I take out my little butane soldering torch and selectively torch it in various places for about five minutes until the log itself has achieved ignition, and then it's good to go.

Duraflames of the highest quality We've tried a variety of fire logs over the years, and these Duraflame logs are by far the best: they produce a beautiful, even flame across the log, and they don't stink!

Wood is more difficult to work with
5/5

I was a little hesitant to buy these after reading some reviews, but I am glad I did. I've had no trouble lighting these, and they last for at least three hours. br>br>They aren't the same as wood, so keep that in mind. They don't burn as hot, don't smell like wood, and don't crackle as much as a real wood fire. All of this is to say that you don't have to lug a bunch of wood around, set it up perfectly in the fireplace, and then work to keep it going. br>br>In my area, the cost of these logs is comparable to a bundle of wood that burns for roughly the same amount of time (with significantly less fuss), so it's well worth it to me to relax with a simple fire after a long day.
