Questions & Answers

Is this something I could use to light a charcoal fire in my grill?

Yes, but why would you want to do that? If you used charcoal and a starter fluid, I suppose it would work. You are aware that the fat wood is kept burning by pine tar. It's possible that it'll give your food an unpleasant flavor profile.

What country does the product come from? thanks. ?

Hello. Honduras or Mexico are the places where it's made. On the box, the country of origin will be printed. Thank you very much.

What is this fat wood that is "multicolor"?

My fat wood does not come in a variety of colors. so . not sure.

This qualifies me as a hero who can start fires! I really enjoy it
5/5

My husband thinks I'm like a girl scout when it comes to starting a fire. I'm not going to be able to. These are the items that I use. So he doesn't find out, I put them on the shelf.

I bought the 5 pound box, which contains approximately 150 pieces that are 1/2" x 1/2" x 9" and takes a spark easily and burns for a long time
5/5

The wood is all good fatwood with a lot of resin. When I go backpacking, I keep these with me as a fire starter. Scrape some fine shavings off the stick, and it will easily pick up sparks from a firesteel. A single stick can be used to start a number of fires, or you can simply leave the entire stick in the fire to get it started. This is a product that I wholeheartedly endorse.

My first box left me feeling very unsatisfied! Take a look at the updated version of the review*
5/5

*Update
I contacted the company regarding the difficult-to-light box of fatwood. A replacement box was sent to me right away. It was less difficult to light this box. With only a match, I was able to get them going. This product is of the same high quality as the others I've purchased previously. I will most certainly purchase these again in the future. br> *First Box Review
I had previously purchased this brand and had had no problems until now. It's incredibly difficult to light these fatwood sticks. I'm sorry for what I bought. Every year, I would only purchase this brand because of their consistency in starting fireplace fires. This batch is so bad that starting a fire with a torch and paper and seasoned kindling is nearly impossible. This fatwood used to be easy to light with just a match. Now I have to go out and find some more great fatwood that I can rely on to start my fires. br> Batch Informationbr> This product was ordered on November 17th and will be delivered on November 20th, 2020.

It's fantastic! Because I occasionally use my campfire to cook, I was looking for a fire starter that didn't rely on chemicals to get it started
5/5

I tried these sticks because of the positive reviews and was not dissatisfied. I disagree with a previous reviewer who stated that they easily spark. They can take a minute or two to start depending on the wind, and if there isn't enough heat, they will go out. In fact, I considered giving this review four stars because they don't spark as easily as chemical or fuel-soaked starters; However, I changed it back to 5 stars because I believe they are excellent for an all-purpose application. Even if they need a little extra attention, they're a natural starter. br>br>I believe I used 10 the first couple of times I used these. It took 15 sticks before my firewood caught on (which is a lot, but I had no idea what I was doing). I've been able to start a fire with just four sticks since then. If there is no wind, I could probably get away with just two sticks, but the risk of them going out before the firewood catches is higher. I've discovered that using four sticks ensures that they stay lit and that there is enough heat to start the firewood. If you're not paying attention and the fire dies out before you can add another log, all you need is one stick to relight it.

Who'd have guessed these could be so effective? In my Weber grill, I used three of these
5/5

On top of the three fire starter sticks, I made a small pile of charcoal. I lit the three sticks with a long lighter. Hold the flame of the lighter for about 5 seconds on each stick. They were easy to light and lasted for at least 10 minutes. Their fire quickly spread to my coals, and as it grew, I added more coals to ensure that I had enough to cook. Don't put out the fire. br>br>These get 5 stars because they worked perfectly the first time I tried them. For many years, I have used a chimney starter. Because they're reasonably priced, I decided to give them a shot. br>br>On the Weber, I grilled a few pounds of boneless chicken to perfection.

What happened I'm not sure
3/5

This was my go-to brand in the past. Due to cost, I recently switched to a different brand, but the product, which looked like broken up lumber sprayed with some sort of chemical, disappointed me. I purchased this item with the expectation of receiving genuine waxy, piney, fatwood. When I opened the box, I was disappointed to find (you guessed it) broken up lumber sprayed with some sort of chemical inside. This isn't a piece of fatwood at all. Fatwood is a type of wood that is completely saturated with resin throughout, giving it a waxy appearance. I guess I'll have to look for a different brand.

Rip off
3/5

The Amazon ad and the packing slip both say the box weighs 5 pounds, but it only weighs 3. 4 lbs. The volume, but not the weight, is depicted in the ad. The box that arrived had the same volume as the box in the picture, but it weighed less than the advertised weight. I had the option of purchasing three 1. Locally, I could get 4lb boxes for less than I paid for this item, but I thought 5lbs would be a better deal at this price. Be Wary of the Buyer! Having said that, the product is functional.

Original flimsy box was used to ship the item
3/5

The item has been damaged and must be repurchased. taped. To light it, I needed tinder. Only the original box was present when the package arrived. There was no other box inside this one. The original box was damaged, broken apart, and reassembled because it was flimsy. taped. Many of the sticks were laying across the top of the box instead of being packed vertically like the rest of the box, indicating that they had fallen out. Is it true that I received the entire 5 pound package? I didn't weigh it because it felt light to me. To get it to light, you must cut slivers. To make it catch fire, I had to use cotton balls soaked in Vaseline.
