It would be better to have a fan that moves much more air and is quieter than one that is attached to a box. The unit shown in the picture is not this one. My home of 1800 square feet is heated by a wood burning stove and has been that way for 25 years. My original method of air circulation was with a regular pedestal or box fan. The fan I installed this year was part of the heating system upgrade I did. The fan is louder than I expected, at least as loud as my I had hoped it would move more air, but I was disappointed with its performance. Last but not least, the adjustable speed dial only functions for about a quarter of a turn. When the fan is not turned down to a quarter turn, there is almost no air movement, and it makes a buzzing sound only. Since I have been shopping online 10 years ago, this is the first dissatisfaction from an item I have ever had to write about. I don't know if I got a bad batch of the blower or if the dimensions changed since I purchased In either case, be sure to hold on to your original casing if you are buying this as a replacement.
