Questions & Answers

This looks great in front of my fireplace, but does it work?

In order for the unit to function, it must be in contact with a metal surface that is being heated up

How can I use this for a heating system in a hallway? Our living room gets an amazing 99% of the heat from the hallway, but not from the ?

I highly doubt that the fan is intended to be mounted to a heating unit, specifically Heat is conducted by the fan housing and converted into energy to enable the fan to run. The direct heat you need is 175 degrees or higher

The fan is designed for free standing propane stoves, will it work?

I am able to use it with our freestanding wood stove. Until the fan begins to rotate, the surface of the stovetop must reach a temperature above 150 degrees. As long as your stove gets hot enough to work, it is probably fine.

Can this fan be used in a room of a certain size?

An ideal rectangle would be 12' x 12' at most, plus or minus a few inches.

For wood heat, this is essential! As compared to a cord of wood, it might seem like a splurge, but improving the circulation of air in the house and heating it will make a big difference
5/5

A typical 2400 sq ft house uses about 4 cords of electricity per year to heat itself (thank goodness for spray foam insulation in the basement -- In the past we burned over 6 cord!) Now we burn mid-sized cords The size of two In our 350-square-foot camp, we have a Blade 810 installed which is heated with an older Jotul 118 and a 3-inch tube system This is a 5 blade (Airplus) unit in our 2000 square feet of living space that is heated with a Jotul Combi-Heater The fire number four. Those complaining about not feeling the air current can refer to the following information In reality, the fan is intended to circulate the warm air into the room rather than be a cooling device. A natural convection process is causing it to rise. The cabin used to have cool pockets of air in the far reaches, notably the bedroom area and floor area, prior to the installation of the ecofan. Warm air is circulated throughout the room instead of rising to the ceiling and escaping through the roof with the help of the fan. A fan you use for air circulation in your house will not deliver as strong a breeze to you as a fan does. Another plus is the fact that At 300 deg the motor is considered 'activated' when it gets hotter, it will spin faster. Therefore, your fire will burn down and the fan will slow down. This will allow me to check the 'status' of the fire just by looking at the pace We have a woodstove in the basement of our home When I peek down the stairs at the fan, I can see if it is In order to add wood, it must be done. For instance, if a fire gets a little too hot, you should put it out immediately As soon as I see it spinning to the point where it seems unmanageable, I know to dampen down the fire or at least check on it.

Heat from the woodstove is greatly increased, especially when they are used together
5/5

Our Moreso wood stove is equipped with models 810 Ultrair Eco fans, which blow cold air. There is something very satisfying about the silent 'free' flow of heat. In the beginning, we had just one, which had a subtle but very noticeable effect, and then we used a second one on the opposite side to create a more balanced visual effect and to move more air around. During the last year, we have been content with this arrangement. It was then that one day I decided to try something new By lining up both fans on one side, one about 8 feet long and the other about 4 feet long, I crowd controlled both The one in front of the other is 10 inches away. I'm astonished at how much airflow was increased and how quickly it was noticed. When there is just one fan, you can place your hand in front of it without feeling it that much, but when two fans are in line, you cannot keep your hand there because of all the extra air flow that passes through. My plan was to gang these two vents, so the performance would be on both sides of the flue pipe and the balance could be perfect. Adding a 4-barrel carburetor to a muscle car engine is like adding a 4-barrel carburetor to a 4 cylinder engine. The cost of this solution is high, but as our only source of emergency heat during the daytime when the power goes out, we should be able to justify the expense. The next time I see it, I'll definitely check it out. *cough* (*cough*) I hope you enjoyed the pun).

On reading the specifications, I noticed that the Ultrair model 810 is rated to begin working at a lower temperature than the In other words, the 810 will start sooner and run longer once the stove heats up and cools off. Despite the absence of open flames, the fans on the stove continue to run for extended periods of time even after the coals have burned out.

There is a huge difference between fans and no fans
5/5

Initially, I thought that the price was outrageous for what I was getting. A few days ago, I decided to buy a hot tent and a wood burning stove for my new hot tenting adventure. I was not able to get very warm in my tent the first weekend and wondered what I had done I had purchased this fan so that I could bring it with me on my second weekend. My life is so much better because of it. Keeping the tent at a more even temperature will help keep the hot air in the tent more evenly distributed. Now, I am able to reach those ridiculous hot tent temperatures near 80 degrees Fahrenheit. As a side note, I kept mine in the same bag as my Winnerwell stove after the first use. Upon turning it on for the second time, the blade made a clanging noise. I realized that the blade was bent in storage and was hitting the metal base of the machine. Just something to make sure you know about the storage of this fan is that ended up just having to bend the blade back into place and there was no more noise. Be careful not to bend it too far.

Even after 3 years, the relationship is still The ecofan I purchased three years ago is still going strong
5/5

It hasn't stopped working since then, and I've been impressed with how well it performs. Rather than made in China, it was created in Canada. The fan is far superior to others that I had seen but I was skeptical about the high cost when compared to others that were available. The next time your fire is burning nicely, you will notice that the ecofan blows a breeze forward. No, it's not like an HVAC fan, but lets be honest here. I highly recommend this addition as it's a nice addition. As a matter of fact, I intend to purchase a second ecofan since our new house has two wood stoves.

Air circulates like a champ on this one! A month or two after we return from the cabin off the grid, I see for the first time how cold and uncomfortable it is so we don't go again until it is cozy and warm again
5/5

With this fan, the air can be more evenly circulated across the main floor, and the room can be heated more evenly. Since it is off the grid, having this use no electricity is an added bonus. It used to take forever for the farthest corners of the room to feel the heat, but now it is more even so we don't have to huddle around the wood stove for hours. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Unless you want to fry your fan, you should not place this near your wood stove. It could be too hot and may damage the fan. Since our wood stove is at the front, the air is cooler, and the speaker sounds great. I also guess there's less chance of it overheating.

These fans are spectacular
5/5

They are made by a great company and feature a great product. She wanted one of these for a while, but I never bought one because I was hesitant to pay the price, so I delaying tactics to make her However, she did not, and we ended up purchasing This is my favorite. I

Our heating system works so much better because of the difference in heat distribution around our house. The warm air from your wood stove should always be circulated using a fan of some sort. I find it fantastic that this fan uses the heat from the stove to generate power. You don't have to turn it on or off, just leave it to work its magic. Please place a stove thermometer close enough to your fan so you can get an idea of how hot it is. You will damage the motor if it becomes too hot. When I made my first one, that was what I did. In spite of this, Caframo sent me a new motor without a second thought. The old one was easily swapped out and my new one was ready in no time. The business is back on track. My cast iron kettle now sits next to the fan as a result of great customer service. 212deg F is the maximum temperature of boiling water, so the temperature of the stove top does not get too hot for the fan to work. This is science.
