Generally, the materials and build are of sufficient quality to justify the price, however, unfortunately, the manufacturers have decided to go with the cheapest, flimsiest pull-cords. The cord they may have found could have been a cord. Both the fan blades and the housing are made of plastic. The metal mount and swivel arms are made of steel/metal. The look of them is nice!.
