It is true. When used in damp conditions, they can be very effective. As humid as Florida has been over the past few years, the fan is not affected.
I am not responding to your question, but you are asking it. What are the chances that you will find a fan that is UL rated for wet places? In addition to our patio outdoors, I'm looking for one that will be on our porch outside. I cannot seem to find one
The cord comes with a plug, allowing you to plug it in and out as you wish. You will need to cut the wiring if you want to hardwire. It's not built for outdoor use, but I use it under our eaves pointing downward at our patio table. It wanted to be longer but I didn't mind. The cord in my circumstance could have been longer 18" but it wasn't a bother. I like how quiet the fan is
