The minimum number of windows to be opened is five. A 19" window unit was what we were looking for. This unit was rated and commented on as fitting perfectly. I don't believe it does. In the box, this unit is clearly stated that it is for windows with a minimum opening width of 23". There is no 17" as it says in the description. The description of this product did not have any pictures of the box or measurements, so we relied on the reviews and comments to determine the unit's size. Despite the fact that the unit itself is 16" wide, you require the side panels to secure it to the window, so you need to adjust your measurement for that. As a result, we modified the side panels and made this work, but if you cannot do that, proceed to the next item. As far as the unit itself is concerned, it works great Nevertheless, many of the reviews and comments are blatantly inaccurate and misleading.

Two months were not even enough time for my son to use this unit. An extremely loud grinding noise could be heard, to the point that it sounded like the unit was about to go off. This is an easy to install product. It quickly cools the room. In the 11x12 foot room, the temperature dropped from 89 degrees to 72 degrees after 45 minutes, in spite of 98 degrees outside.
