Questions & Answers
The front of the air conditioner measures 14 inches wide while the depth is 25 inches deep. There is an overall height of 20 in the window.
The unit does not have an accordion panel, but there is a flat panel that fits over the top and down the sides. The panel measures approximately 1 1/2 inches to cover the gap between the top and sides.
No, a window sill doesn't have to be perfectly flat. A casement window of Anderson design was used to install this unit. A height issue and a width issue presented themselves to me. My window was basically unusable according to the instructions. In the end, I laid out a 2x4 inside the sill and a 2x4 outside the sill, then a piece of plywood for a flat surface on top of both of them, secured it with wood screws, and then placed the AC unit on that. My next step was to shimming the platform on the inside to ensure that my 3/16 inch stud was outside in order to account for drip gaps.
The item you receive doesn't completely cover a 50" window, so you would have to figure out how to fill the space above the box. As of now, I have used the excess from my installation in a 37" window, but my guess is that it would fit into a window that is about 39 1/2" tall without additional work.

The air conditioning companies ignore the fact that these windows exist, so we only have a small selection of models to choose from, all of which are highly expensive. This one is expensive, but there aren't any alternatives that are less expensive.
I'm not going to lie, I found the installation pretty confusing. The manual is not like a user's guide from IKEA. my boyfriend and me over an hour to complete the task. As soon as you get the support thing installed (that you can see pictured from the outside of the building), then it's a fairly straightforward process. An extra block I used to attach to the wall support, which is up against the brick, helps prevent the brick from sliding towards the wall (which it suggests does). While I disregard the description that says "max height is 40in" because mine is 42in tall, and there are no longer alternatives, I have ignored the support when I've had other air conditioners for a normal window and they worked fine without the support. To extend the top of the shade, I used the cardboard that came with the package. It looks pretty ugly, but you won't be able to see it when the shade is lower. There isn't a lot of noise or too much quietness, but it doesn't get too loud or too quiet either. There is a video attached that you can see and hear. A remote is included which is pretty nice. The room isn't huge, fits my flat screen, a king bed and a dresser (not much else). So far, it hasn't exceeded 90 degrees, but I'm sure it will be.
Appliance engineers designed the package to ensure the products are packaged to maximize space and minimize damage in ocean containers, stacked manually. At 6" from the top, 3" in from the left. The sides of the box are 125" apart. After the container's seal is broken, Frigidaire is no longer liable. It is possible that some reviewers are receiving damage units as a result of this. I received my first unit which was dropped shipped via UPS Ground (never went to Amazon), and it was damaged in several places as a result of inadequate Poly strap banding is used to hold the packaging together. Neither the box nor its bottom has a In order to band a UPS Ground return shipment, you will need a poly strap banding machine. Because I don't have that, Amazon had to hire a specialized air freight company to deliver the package. The Frigidaire and Amazon contact numbers are both listed below. This is a 5-star review of Amazon. One star for the refrigerator. There seemed to be more of an emphasis on Amazon's liability than customer service.
The shape of the slider A/C is problematic as it is taller than wide. It usually happens to be placed on its side and boxes stacked on top, which did not suit the packaging. In the event you receive it from UPS/FedEx, it may have been shipped on its side (or upside down). Allow it to settle in the right places for 24 hours before plugging it in, or the coolant will damage the unit and it will not generate sufficient cooling. It may be because of this that some reviewers can't get their cooling systems to perform correctly.
The Installation Instructions were reduced by 50 percent and then converted to A4 metric size(standard A set of Installation Instructions was drawn and measures were taken The size of a 5 X 11 printout is 5 X 11. The reason some reviewers experience installation problems may be due to this.
They like "cold", and I don't keep the house at 65 degrees like they like. Ugh! I bought two of them for their rooms because they like "cold". Although they were easy to install, I chose not to go for the traditional installation method, opting for an installation that is a bit more challenging, in order to have glass on top of the unit instead of a blank one. Particularly when there are few windows in the room, it brightens the room significantly.
We have good news to share A Frigidaire unit like this works quietly and blows a lot of cold air [I wonder if the BTU rating is conservative?]. While our unit arrived unscathed, some of the other reviewers' did not I actually found it to be perfectly fine There are no dents, dings, or scratches on this vehicle. Install was simple [I did add some scrap wood to the window sill to make it more level/flat (our aluminum windows have a ridge along the bottom of the frame)]. There's nothing too special about the bottom bracket, but it does a decent job of anchoring this relatively light device. Air conditioner that weighs less than 30 pounds. It's never in my interest to buy an extended warranty, but - In this one case-- It was the SquareTrade 2 that I purchased Protect yourself for a full year with the extended plan. Although it only puts out 8k BTUs, there are a few reviews that mention durability problems. We are crossing our fingers. If it needed to be repaired, I would hate to pack it up and send it out. Overall, if you require an air conditioner that will fit in a tight space [this unit only measures 14 1/2 inches without a frame] then this Frigidaire is one of the few options you have. As of now, our installation of this device has been very quiet, and we have been very pleased with its operation.
Despite the fact that I read so many customer reviews stating that they received damaged merchandise, I rolled the dice and still purchased this air conditioner hoping that somehow my unit would make it to my door in one piece. Dents and dings appeared on the AC when it was delivered. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING! A RECENT UPDATE I have had this air conditioner since April 19, 2019 (5 months) and it no longer blows In the meantime, I have to wait for the warranty to expire before I can get it repaired. We are very disappointed with the product and with the service Amazon provided us in installing.
